This bike sat for at least 14 years. Went through the forks, brakes, fluids, tune up, carbs, etc. Added a drilled rotor and braided line. CRF230F bars. XL 600 fairing. Kenda K-761 tires. Runs so smooth!
THIS was my first NEW vehicle! I bought mine in '84 as a commuter bike that I rode 8 months out of the year while I drove a '78 Chevette in Winter (I was not in to blowing money on gas!) It's a great design for a "daily" (Being shaft drive, less "maintenance"!) An underrated "little" machine, and is on my list of things I wish I never sold! 🤦♂️
We probably passed each other a few times LOL, I still have mine, needs a new crankshaft, but it's mostly still intact. Still the only NEW vehicle I have ever owned. I bought mine at South coast Honda in Costa Mesa Back in my USMC days. It's in my garage in central MN now.
I had the FT 500 as my second bike when I was 17. I prefer the thumper sound on the ft but this aounds nice as well. I miss it as it took me from nc to fl and then to NJ
Very underappreciated bikes. I am looking fior one... used to have a VT500C Shadow, so I would like the v-engine Ascot, but I will buy what I can get! Thx for the vid.
Is that a US-Issued XL fairing? If so, did you modify the number plate part of it? I can't find any images of a similar fairing on any XL600 fairings. What year was it taken from? Thanks!! LOVE your mods!
Scott Stewart No, it fit that way. I modified the XL600 mounting ears slightly and I tilted it back just a bit. Otherwise, it's a stock fairing except for being painted to match.
I would love a modern chain drive v twin 650 sportbike, if I am going twin want v not parallel. Kawasaki needs to make nija 650 a twin at least with a pipe it does not sound like baby civic with fart can
