I remember exactly the day I got this as a birthday gift back in the 80s. Putting all the pieces together is something I will never forget, especially the smell of brand new rubber and plastic, so cool.
My childhood ship !!!! Remember when i was 10-11 i wished Santa to give it to me but mom said it was too big to cary it so i gathered all the money i could get from the christmas carols and bought it myself from the local bookshop ! Stll remember the joy i had , missed these days .
Got this for Christmas 1983. It was a 1984 release but came out Christmas 1983. I was 9 years old and my excitement is something I can still feel today.
Just cleaned my old storeroom from my childhood, and this ship was in there + a ton of other old toys from this age, it was so fun to see it all again, it really sparked alot of good memories.
I usually only watch these type of video to see if I have everything or like today how to do the ropes... But I absolutely loved this. I watched the whole thing. Not just had it playing. I for real watched the whole thing... Twice
this ship, its structure is identical to set 70411... basically to save time, they used the same base.. only the sails (white to red ), the minifigures (more modern) and some accessories change.
It's not always so much time as it is money. It costs way more to make a new ship than it does to redecorate an old one, hence why the first 3 large pirate ships all use the same base
