I am guessing those were the years that the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) became popular in the 1980s, because it is that organization that codified the dance steps we know in modern competitive ballroom dancing. In the 1980s, International Style Standard was known as "Modern" - covering the V. Waltz, Slow Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, Quickstep, and Tango.
I was wrong. It was Andy Moss and his orchestra. But I realize the honor dance song the orchestra did for the winning couple - "S'Wonderful" by George Gershwin, a boppy quickstep.
I also realize that this dancesport event featured a live band! A live band! The problem here is that the band members had to do strict tempo timing to keep up with those 5 dances involved in this dance competition.
How awful of Ray whatshisname to say "Anne Laxhom" is the prettiest woman in the hall, disrespectful to all the other ladies, besides keep commenting on the dancing buddy 😢
