nicely done mate. Nice lines and sounds bloody amazing. I'm thinking of doing an XV1100 cafe racer. That thing is pretty much all engine!!! Note to camera-person: something I learned the hard way - it's best to stay still and avoid as much movement as possible so that you avoid wobbly shots. Rather than trying to follow the bike all the time, just switch from position 1 to the 2nd, pan to 3rd and back to 1st. Otherwise, bloody nice work and thanks for sharing :)

Luvin Itall thanks man! I was taking this video to sell the bike. I didn't plan on riding it in the video but then my 13 year old son came outside. So I just handed him the camera (phone) without any instruction. lol I think he did okay, considering.

fair call - cracking job by the young lad - give him more practice :) And you do realise you're going to regret selling that bike, right? Man that sound ...
@waynedewey5521

I wouldn't consider attempting to convert this into a Cafe Racer. After 35K miles on that bike you realize just how flexy that frame is and downright dangerous when pushed into corners!! Great engine, terrible frame.

@joshuacraycraft
@joshuacraycraft 7 лет назад
Richard Harber the front was lowered in the clamps by about 1-1/2" to 2" can't remember exactly. The rear shocks were replaced with lower ones. Originals were around 11.75" and the lowered replacements were around 10.5".

Hey there mate, how did you remove/ rewire the front fuse box and ignition? I have an xv1000 myself and hate al the mess up front. Any advice would be much appreciated
@joshuacraycraft
@joshuacraycraft 3 года назад
I bought inline fuses for every fuse and stuffed all the wires into the holes where the air intake tubes used to be. I also did another virago and used inline fuses again but stuffed all of the wiring inside of a front fork bag. That's the better option in my opinion. I have a video of that bike on my channel also.
@richardharber8434
@richardharber8434 7 лет назад
u get some videos up on here of that build. also where did u get the rear shox from. did u order them in or a local store and what did they run u $
@joshuacraycraft
@joshuacraycraft 7 лет назад
Richard Harber no video yet. I got the shocks on eBay. They ran around $150. The ones I bought for the xv700 are chrome and they only cost me around $60.

Richard Harber if you mean am I working on anything now, then yeah. I bought a virago 700 that I've been messing with over the winter. Did some of the same things to it but a lot different also.

what did u do to prevent that i like low slick look of the bars it really makes the bike look even lower
@joshuacraycraft
@joshuacraycraft 7 лет назад
Richard Harber I never did get them to not hit the tank. But I didn't try super hard either. I made this video to sell the bike, which I did about a week later.

How tall are you ? Looking for an xv 1100 can't quite picture how I could fit comfortably on it after moding it the way I want... I'm 6 foot 4

I'm 5' 8". At 6' 4" you would at least need forward controls.

i like the all black look lol not a fan of chrome i blacked my bike out. and the bars i can see they just atached to the forks after u lowered it
@joshuacraycraft
@joshuacraycraft 7 лет назад
Richard Harber yeah they do but that didn't work so well. They would hit the tank. Crushed the hell out of my hand.

Looks very cool, What kind of fender did you use?
@joshuacraycraft
@joshuacraycraft 7 лет назад
Cedric Huwer I just cut down the stock fender and used the original screws that attach it to the splash guard, along with some cheap brackets attached to the frame.

How/where did you fasten the rear fender? Does the tyre ever bump into it?
@joshuacraycraft
@joshuacraycraft 7 лет назад
pckrx2 I just cut down the stock fender and used the original screws that attach it to the splash guard, along with some cheap brackets attached to the frame. I never had a problem on that bike but the one I have now I did the same thing to and the tire hit it when I went over a huge bump. I made up some rubber bumpers mounted to the swing arm to hit against the frame if I hit too big of a bump. Seems to keep the tire from hitting the fender now.
@pckrx2
@pckrx2 7 лет назад
So it is mounted to the frame and not on the swing?
@richardharber8434
@richardharber8434 7 лет назад
where did u mount he fuse box off the bars with ur ignition
@joshuacraycraft
@joshuacraycraft 7 лет назад
Richard Harber that's a little tricky. I bought inline fuses from the auto parts store and put them in place of the old fuses. Then I stuffed all those fuses and wires into the hole where the old left side carb intake boot was. So you would need to either go to single carb or use pod filters on the each carb to free up those carb boot holes. Alternatively, you could put a fork tool bag on the front and stuff everything in there, which is what I did with my new bike.

when i mounted new meters i moved em to between the fork and the tank and put em in a small kind of fabric case with a zipper..looks OK

Richard Harber There is a forum online that has the fork diameters of tons of Japanese bikes. Not sure what it is now. If I find it I'll post it.

What kind of bars did you use? I don't really feel like spending $150+ on Renthals or Roland Sands but I'm not sure how I feel about using the $18 ones that come up on eBay
@joshuacraycraft
@joshuacraycraft 7 лет назад
tskwared667 I'm not really sure anymore. The ones on that bike were around $60. But if you get clip ons like those, THEY WILL HIT THE TANK. Unless you're using a different smaller tank, then I'm not sure.
