Hello friends, I only bounced the voiceover track to the left channel. I hope you can either endure this oversight of mine or find a way to adjust your speakers for a monophonic experience!
Eric, so fun 4 ME to see how it came together. Thanks again for the thought and care that went into this project, I hope to ride this fine bicycle for many years to come. Love ya bud.
Got 30 early 90's Bridgestone mtn bikes. I commute/long distance tour on them heavily loaded with jandd expedition racks and a bob yak trailer with a drag brake. Simple, extremely reliable and super easy to work on. For me, 7 speed cassettes and cold forged triple cranks and Shimano thumb shifters rule!! Never owned any bike made from pop cans, shocked in addition to having no front derailler.
Looks great! I'm doing a very similar build with an 84 Raleigh Tamarack. Except the power ratchet bar end shifters since I had an extra set laying around.
This looks a LOT like my 1985 rockhopper same blue with big apple schwalbes, same mks pedals. Running it with a tall stem and nitto moustache bars though. Great all round ride. You're a good friend for building up such a sick setup for a buddy!
WELL that was a fantastic watch. Thank you. I can only imagine the time that it tool to film and edit on top of the actual work!! It is much appreciated and inspiring.
Thanks, Patrik! Went with the King Gizz/Wizz/Lizz because that album is allegedly public domain but I still got a copyright flag. Great music, all the same.
@@ericmarth The handlebar needs some partially Newbaum's wrapping too, not just for looks. I recently put some wrapping on my VO Granola Bar in addition to my Ergon's with Newbaum's cushioned cloth tape it's thicker and I love it, ever tried this?
Eric, would you consider buying a grit blaster cabinet and a enamel paint sprayer. It would be great to see the bikes painted with the addition of lug lining and your head badges!
Worth pointing out those levers are T4000 Alivio, not XT. I wouldn’t normally parts snob about them. But I have that exact pair sitting in my spares bin now. Because the right one developed a weird sticky scrape that started driving me mad. I upgraded them to the actually XT pair. I paid way too much for my set because I wanted all shiny instead of the black bodied version Riv had in stock at the time. I also got the shiny DXR levers from Riv. They’ve been exceptional.
Thanks, Whitney! I had a feeling I'd messed that up but didn't look hard enough at my purchase order records. Sounds like you're well acquainted with all form of Shimano levers :)
Hi Eric, great build as always. With the head badge have you thought about using a sticker design on the brass and then acid etching making the design stand proud of the badge?
Thanks Rick! I'm not sure, actually. The bike is off with my friend and I can't remember the clearance. We did have chain rub in the low/low. That could be solved with smaller tires and that might occasion fender room.
Yeah, actually have some chain rub on the tires in the low/low! The tires are Schwalbe Fat Franks, 26x2.35. They clear the frame fine, it's the chain line that's the problem. It would prob resolve with a smaller tire like a 2.15.
Thanks, Alex! A local bike co-op is a great place to look, if you have one. Otherwise there's eBay, Pink Bike and some other small shops that list used parts online. The price has been pretty high lately but if you're patient you can get a set for less than $50.
There's a little section with some radio noise from Neu and maybe another with something from Ege Bamyasi but nothing from Kikagaku Moyo. The end sequence is King Gizz and the Wiz Liz
Excellent Eric, can’t wait. I have been trying to slowly build up all the exact components again for my triple XT touring bike as they’re getting hard to find now every thing seems to be going electronic. Looking forward to your next video! Cheers for the reply. Take care.
I use Shimano EM shifters on one of my bikes, they're much nicer than the matching EM brake levers, which are plastic with very thin bits of steel pressed into them for styling. You won't even find a picture of EM levers because they're that bad. The shifters are perfectly adequate though, so adequate in fact that Sunrace copied them in more recent years. I'm surprised yours make a ratcheting sound, mine most certainly don't.
I was like, "No way this guy hits that chain stay guard with the twin". And then he totally hit it up with twine. Is it weird that twine gave me a rush?
i eric this is a documentary on cycling by a god of touring in french that might be of interest 'ncroyable périple à vélo au Tadjikistan avec l’aventurier Claude Marthaler''
After the heartache of trying to track down a replacement fork and the frustration of discovering condition overall in slow motion... I'm afraid I can't be persuaded!
Aw, nuts, I uploaded with the voice over only in one channel! I'm going to let it ride and hope the community can endure. And hope those with a bit of grit can finesse those accessibility settings for a monophonic experience!
