Thanks so much for posting this video. I just purchased an 85 for my daughter so we can work on it together as a father daughter project. We pulled the codes and this is one of them that popped up. This video is going to help tremendously!
My 89 was stalling but would restart. I thought it was the fuel pump or the fuel pressure regulator, so I changed both which did not fix the stalling. I found your video and then adjusted the TPS. FIXED! Thank you
I myself had an 85 Vette.. wish I could be in a position to buy it ..but unfortunately not.. but thanks for the helpful tips on what look for and what to fix and how to fix it.. I enjoyed your videos I hope you keep doing them
I picked up an 84 c4 basket case three years ago fun car I worked as gm tech 25 yrs have a Mac scanner I bought in 83 works great twin tbi injection definitely a strange beast
you probably weren't expecting a commit on this video so late, I stumbled on your videos like a few days ago, I already. purchased my c4, its an 84 with less than 30 gs on the odometer, yes I knew it have problems it set in a machine shed on a far for 16 years. Yes an 84 is what I wanted; I still have the original poster. just saying that car look just like mine
The question not answered is did you fix the OD problem... The OD, may have had a problem due to the OPEN thermostat. There was a temperature sensor that caused the OD to shift out of OD, when the temperature was COOLER than 180 degrees. It may have been tied to the Oil Temp if not the Water Temp.
I love all of your videos Ben!!! Hope to see a lot more of them in the near future. Would really love to see a new C-4 Corvette project. Those videos really help me with my Corvette, as it is now in daily driver condition, but can always use little fixes like the ones that you do to your cars!
I am new to the Corvette world. There is a vette that is a basket case ( engine ) but all parts are there. they are asking 1500.00. I would like to know if its worth trying to fix it? Jovialks
Hello From Ontario Canada. I have been watching a lot of your videos, I love what you do Ti the Corvettes !! Live the old corvettes. My question to you is ? Can you find a 1981, Cream inside and out. I hade one back in 1990. I have been looking for the same car but with no luck at all. So after watching your videos I see how you work on them and bring them back to a daily driver status. So what to buy another 1981, cream inside and out. Can you find me one. And do all the work you do and then put it up for sail then we can make a deal on the car and send your work to Ontario Canada ? If this is a possibility ? And you have a free minute ? Could you please respond to my Comment. I’m extremely interested and am looking forward to hearing back from you !! Talk soon. Robert
Totally unrelated to this video but I have a 1986 Corvette. I noticed that your intake runners have little dings and dents in them. Mine do too. Any idea how this happens?
Looks great, that car surely put up a fight but it looks like your determination prevailed. Did the TPS adjustment get messed up when you had the throttle body off/replaced it with a used one, or did the problem/code just occur naturally?
Hello, I really enjoyed the videos on the C4. I parked mine (1986) in the garage a few years ago and now it will not start. I replaced the battery, put $10 of supreme gas, and it will not turn over. I wanted to fix it up for my son, who's in college, because my dad bought it for me. Can you help me fire it up to get it to a shop?
Are the antennas to these supposed to go down all the way? I've just made peace with mine being always a foot in the air sticking out. It extends the full length when the car is running, so I just thought that was normal lol
No they should go down all the way. When it is up all the way, try using some WD-40 on it, might have dirt inbetween the moving parts, will help it travel smoother.
I know this is an older video but if I were to drop only around 6k, would it be worth buying a C4 as a daily drive? (assuming i wouldn't have a whole lot of money for parts / fixes)
+Fred Mann Which I am sure does make a difference, but 230-350 hp just from a chip is a little optimistic if you ask me. There are a few huge threads on corvette forum explaining how most chips do little to no good. Basically the same concept as a K&N filter making your engine make huge power. It just isn't that easy to increase power by a ten second mod for $50
Would you have any knowledge regarding a reasonable price to paint an 85' vette? Assuming fiberglass is hard to paint due to dangers in over sanding and ruining the fiberglass, I'm a little worrisome. Thanks for the great videos and I'd appreciate any feedback.
Im looking at a 1986. Guy says it goes 270 280 hp with d u i high voltage coils, kbd exhaust, and a performance chip. And also says he has a 350 hp chip not installed. How much hp do you think that would do?
+Fred Mann chips are basically a waste of money. He might as well say that stickers on the side of the car give him 100 hp. You gain power when you increase compression, fuel.and air.
+TheCorvetteBen good to hear. what did you spend on this car total? that's one thing that would of helped. at least everytime you spent this or that it would of been cool to know what you got it for and if we can link up a better deal someplace else. I ask this cause I'm pretty NooBWebZ when it comes to prices I might pay too much you know
I can include how much parts cost in my future videos. The reason I really never talk about purchase price and sale price is because all the car shows on TV just focus on profit profit profit. Now manking some green because your hard work is awesome, but I do it more for the cars, not for the money. 95% of shows that is all that matters, which is not me
KnN filter with cut top stock air cleaner lid -10hp . air intake temp. sensor, clean mass air sensor -10hp. Street runner hyper-tech chip -15hp. High flow converter and exhaust system -30hp. Take the spare tire and jack out along with fluid and filters changed, spark plugs -10hp. Cams and header? Even more hp.
I got to tell you I'm a little disappointed I just watched the last video and I thought you were going to Daly drive this you fixed it up now you going to sell it I thought the whole point of the videos you were making this to be a daily driver
i set mine @ .61volts car has much better throttle response and top end power (pulls to 6000RPM) mine is highly modded though so your results might vary
I would love to buy this car but i guess you dont sell it to a german viewer. I bet it suites my c3 very well. I always wanted to own a corvette with a manual transmission. :)
I say cash in the ad when it comes to local buyers. When it comes to overseas buyers a wire transfer is the safest way to send money. When I sold the 58 to sweden they sent the money in a wire transfer, I gave them the address and they sent a truck to pick up the car. I mailed them the title and papers in a insured package
+Bill Dollarmovie if you are willing to do some work on one. check out Craigslist, you might be surprised. I got a 77 once, nice, guy was asking 7k told him that I have 5 cash, he said come get it. cash talks! Good luck and happy hunting!
Glad you did this, I never pulled the codes, but my idle was erratic so I decided to put some use to a volt meter. My voltage was high, brought it down to. 54 and it now purrs like a kitten every time I slow down or come to a stop. UD Man., Keep up the great studies.
7k??? A little steep for an '85 don't ya think? I mean I picked up an "84 recently for $700.00, running, derivable and not all that bad looking... I'll have 5k in it total and it will be twice as fast as stock and look just as good as new...
