This is the one I was looking for. It took me over a year to find it. Ultimately, a 1911 with some history fell outside of my budget, so this was the next best thing. Solid first 1911. Looking forward to testing some 45acp self defense rounds.

3.5" barrel & 6rnd mag on the OACP. 4.25" barrel and 7rnd mag on the Commander. FYI the recoil spring plug design with the little tab on the OACP will break.... and at the worst time.... the factory style plug is impossible to find. Best to convert it to an aftermarket Clark style "reverse plug" ASAP if you intend to shoot it alot or carry for SD. Recoil springs also have a very short life in OACP, so keep them in stock. Nice find, I have had a M1991 Compact since new, my only OACP.

Evolution Gun Works ( E .G.W ) makes a really nice bushing with tab and full length guide rod assembly with a #22 spring for the officers model Colt. You can get the whole package from them in stainless or blue . You can buy extra individual springs.Tolerances are tight on the assembly and they are best broken in with full power loads and plenty of lube 400/500 rounds, should do it. I have a Para p12 and I know everybody hates them but I love my little one. Parts for it are nearly impossible to find .With recoil springs being one of them. A man at E.G.W was nice enough to take some measurements of his part for me and the Colt officers recoil assembly was a drop in part for my Para. No machining is necessary. Save your precious slide .If you go the Clark route you will probably have to cut it. The E.G.W part is a drop in with a small sholder that will not interfere with cycling. Your slide will fully lock and there's room to spare, no bind ,no stacking. E.G.W uses flat wire springs. They are a beautifully machined part. Give them a try!

If that's a true officer's model, the barrel should be 3.5".

The ejection pattern can be fixed by a little extractor tuning. It's common with 1911s. I'd Google 1911 ejection fix and go from there. Great content, as usual.

That thing looks snappy - I love the 45acp and it runs so good in Glock 21 - the big plastic frame soaks up the recoil and it is so easy to shoot - you didn’t ask though lol The all steel of a 1911 just doesn’t appeal to me - I’ve only ever liked plastic guns - have run a few mags in a Staccato P and wasn’t crazy about it either - I guess all steel pistols aren’t for me

Nice find and it looks to have been well taken care of. Many of us have had a firearm that we wish we had in the safe. Mine was a Colt combat commander in 38 super auto.

Definitely well taken care of. The gentleman that sold it to the shop was in declining health. He sold over 200 pieces 🤯

A month back Sportsman’s WH had a sale on a Rock Island M1911 standard for $269 or $299. Missed it. Nice!

I have the Para Ordnance P12-45 that is the double stack version (12+1) of the Officer’s model. If you like 1911’s and 45 acp, Para Ordnance made some fantastic pistols. The P12 was a Double Stack Officer’s model. The P13 was the Double Stack Commander version The P14 was the Full Size 1911 Government Model in a Double Stack.
