Yup, definately keeps me on my toes and under the hood! Wife says get rid of, but my heart says no. Hope wife doesn't misunderstand when she hears putting new "Rings" on it.
What amazes me is the fact that both door and seatbelt buzzers work, and the hubcaps haven’t lost their paint! I sure love these old trucks! Got an 86 f250 xlt lariat with a 460 c6 4x4. Same thing just a regular cab.
Noah Garay that seat belt buzzer drives me crazy but it’s part of the 80’s nostalgia. I can’t bring myself to figure out how to disconnect it. It still has the original windshield with dealer sticker on it. I like the 80’s trucks because they are comfortable and classic.
Noah Garay I pieced together the lift with some add a leafs and some 2 inch blocks that I already had. After I put it back together I couldn’t even get it close to alignment so added the 3inch drop brackets for the front differential. thanks for the info on the door/seatbelt buzzer.
That’s a good tip. I might try that. If it’s not already done. It is a little ways away from getting it started. 84, & no where in the shape yours is. This is a educational video for me. Thank you.
I actually sold it a few years ago so I could get another crew cab. Long story short I had a 1970 Ford crew cab short bed 4 x 4 that I sold for big money. Regretted it to this day. Picked up a square body crew cab before I got priced out of the market. You are correct though, original is always best and rare. Thanks
@@zmurray9499 BEAUTIFUL TRUCK HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THAT BODY STYLE IN 1985 WHEN I WAS 21 MY DAD PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 1986 F150 XLT LARIAT 2 WD WITH 5.0 HE AND MY MOM ADDED ME TO THE PAPERWORK JUST TO HELP ME BUILD CREDIT 2 YEARS LATER DAD PASSED AND WITH HAVING CREDIT LIFE INSURANCE ON LOAN IT WAS PAID OFF IMMEDIATELY I KEPT TRUCK UNTIL 1993 WHEN I TRADED IT IN ON A NEW F150 SUPER CAB LOVE THE OLDER FORDS MY 2007 F150 XLT 4X4 CREW CAB WHICH WAS BOUGHT NEW IN 07 IS RUSTING AWAY IN WHEEL WELLS AND CAB CORNERS AND IS ALREADY ON ITS SECOND 5.4 3V MOTOR AND ONLY HAS 135K ITS NO WONDER WHY FORD WENT WITH ALL ALUMINUM BODY AND DID AWAY WITH THE 5.4
I AM KAZIE thanks, they are kinda the last body style before things got more complicated. Would love to find a nice (bullnose) crew cab but hard to come by. I like the 87 to 97 also take care
@@AlejandroP1980s I actually sold the ford and now have a 1984 Chevrolet k30 crew cab. Gave up on finding a ford, I needed to get a crew before I was priced out of the market. I don’t care what make as long as it’s cool. I have a couple videos of it on my channel. A crew cab long bed is a huge vehicle and then add in dually. Gas mileage would go from 7 to 4 mpg on top of that(unless it’s a diesel). Take care and good luck with your search
Z Murray don’t ever sell it hard to find like these I’m trying to get a 1980-1983 f-100 but no find no luck I’m going for a 1985 f250 xlt regular cab regular bed
John Mcclane you are right, I would love to have a crew cab so I am always scanning Craigslist for trucks. It’s just hard to find nice clean older trucks.
I just fell in love. I was originally going to look for an 87' in this exact configuration with the 7.3 idi but if I spot a bullnose this beautiful I'll get that instead.
If you get one make sure it’s a diesel. The 460 has a lot of fuel system, wiring harness problems and 10 mpg at very best. But all vehicles have there problems. Thanks
@@zmurray9499any fuel system tips? I’m starting by getting a replacement carburetor. There isn’t one on here. I might as well know and replace everything now, so I don’t have to deal with it later.
Timothy Howard I would look for a diesel if your at all concerned. Anything 80’s an older and ford v8 is bad. I have never officially calculated because it only gets used for truck stuff.
Actually sold it to get a crew cab(true love). I really liked the Ford truck but it was too nice and I was afraid to use it as a truck. Really enjoy using the mini dozer any chance I get. Take care
Yes, I agree. I want to put a EFI on mine but need to find who makes one. I saw one on "all girls garage" they put one on a 460 but in a Lincoln... so it's gotta be possible...
TONY'S HOBBY CHANNEL the factory fuel system is ridiculously complex and people on the forums are always chasing gremlins. Fuel injection keeps getting easier and cheaper.
@@zmurray9499 right on bro I will start making videos of my truck and show the different steps of the progress as I go through it bit by bit the truck you have is awesome not too many of those left on the road take care
Got an 85. Odometer stopped at 50k. Beautiful lines and runs great after a little starting fluid. Beat to crap, but safe to drive. Wish I had time to re do it
Richard Raucina mine has always been difficult to start cold. I adjusted the choke flap so it closes completely and that made a big difference. Take care
I'm watching a video on a large screen TV and boy your dual exhaust sound awesome what mufflers did you use it sounds great I'm curious to put some on mine.
willis higley I would place a personal value of 10k. I don’t know if that’s high or low in the market. 80’s Dodge and Chevrolet trucks are bringing good money. Ford trucks of the same era aren’t bringing as much. Take care
I have an 84 Chevrolet crew cab now and the ford was superior in comfort, ride and leg room. Fords upper trim level had captain’s chairs with center console as well. I don’t know if leg room is different in a super cab and regular cab.
hardy 66 basically it has a couple add a leafs and differential drop bracket in front. And a 4 inch block that replaced the factory 2 inch. I pieced it together and had to alter the add a leafs (I already had from previous truck)to fit. You have to get the drop brackets or else it won’t be align able.
Joe L thank you kind sir, this era of ford trucks had bad paint and quirky fuel pumps/wiring harnesses. You see a lot of them for sale not running. 3/4 tons usually got used and abused.
Richard Raucina if I have any more problems with the fuel system I will put a mechanical pump on and ditch the electric pumps and everything that goes with it!
I would love an old crew cab from that era. Good luck finding another. I bet alot of them has seen the crusher. Most ive seen of crew cabs of the Generation is 1 ton duallys's now days but I'm sure you could convert one but I live in a farming state
