Three missed field goals for Norm Johnson. Even as conservative as Chuck Knox was after that I would have given serious thought to going for it on the next 4th down
I remember being a rabid Hawks fan at this time and how many times Johnson (and the conservative Knox running game) would disappoint. Looking back, i wish Knox would have gone for more aggressive, trick, or surprise plays, as always punting or going for the field goal seems to be a bet against your own offensive skill-set.
thanks so much for this...Jets became my team in the UK about 4 weeks before this game. Do you have the MNF Fins/Jets game that we won 23-7 ?! What a D we had then..Klecko and Gastinaeu dominating, before injuries ground them both down. Fascinating to watch O'Brien struggle then come good late on!
Can we reform the officiating so we can "let 'em play", please??? Quit calling purely "academic" penalties that don't harm another player, or that aren't egregiously in the wrong, like holding, illegal formations, etc. This would greatly speed up the games. Both teams not getting called for these things would even the game out and return it to the days when it was scrappier, freer, and much more exciting to watch. Penalty after penalty makes me want to go make brownies or watch paint dry instead of NFL football.
