Outstanding footage Marv as always 👌🏻. I was totally lost in it for the 25 minuets. Those safari stages as incredible and undoubtedly the team mechanics were keep very busy in the poorest of working conditions. Total respect to the support crews which kept those Group B Monsters alive. So So nice to see the full mix of these outstanding machines, Metro 6R4, Pug 205 Turbo 16, Audi SWB S1 Quattro, Lancia 037 Rally, Renault 5 Turbo 2, Lancia Delta S4, Opal Manta 400 🤔 , Citroen Visa Gti 🤔, Toyota Celica GT 🤔, Nissan Bluebird Turbo 🤔, Porsche 911 Rally, Alfa Romeo GTV 🤔, Audi Quattro UR, All done from memory with no help from Google 😂. Please forgive me and correct me if I missed any or got em wrong. Thanks again 👍
Thanks man. Good show from memory almost everyone right !! The more complicated Group B cars were not really fans of the Safari but they usually managed to finish. A true test of man and machine and trying to not get lost.
1985 est une année marquer par le duel Audi contre Peugeot , si la firme d'Ingolstadt souhaite conserver ses titres pilotes et constructeur Roland Gumpert et ses pilotes Walter Rohrl , Stig Blomqvist le champion du monde 1984 et Hannu Mikkola devront affronter Peugeot et sa 205 T16 qui se pose comme un candidat sérieux au titre de champion du monde des constructeurs . Tandis que Lancia est totalement en retrait par rapport à la concurrence ce qui n'empêche pas la firme turinoise de faire de la résistance avec une 037 qui certes est véloce mais qui ne fait plus le poids face aux quatre roues motrices inaugurant du même coup une nouvelle ère avec le développement de la Delta S4 . Après les victoires d'Ari Vatanen au Monte Carlo , en Suède , à l'Acropole jusqu'à son terrible accident en Argentine conjuguant aux victoires de Timo Salonen au Portugal , en Nouvelle -Zélande , aux 1000 Lacs ont permit à Peugeot de devenir champion du monde des constructeurs et à Timo Salonen celui des pilotes lui qui est à l'origine a été recruté pour être la doublure de Vatanen . Chez Audi c'est plutôt la bérézina malgré la victoire de Walter Rohrl sur une Audi Quattro Sport S1 au San Remo 85 devant les deux pilotes Lancia Markku Alèn et Henri Toivonen . Le 2 Mai 1985 Attilio Bettega s'est tué lors du Tour de Corse de la même année ce qui pose des questions sur la sécurité dans les rallyes . En même temps Lancia remporte la victoire au RAC avec une Delta S4 ultra performante et un Henri Toivonen qui fait parler son talent et sa rage de vaincre devant un Markku Alèn très combatif . Toivonen , Alèn , Biasion , Salonen , Kankkunen , Rohrl , Mikkola une bataille qui préfigure la saison 1986 .
That's why i do what i do. There is too much Group B footage just sat on people's shelves or locked away in deep storage never to be seen again. All those moments will be lost, in time. Like tears in rain.
i really liked how you integrated some crew shots with them slides and then some simply wonderful artistic cinematic stuff... it looked like a full symphony instead of the tracks of a album
Marv love looking at your group b stuff, (Suggestion)-a TUNE called (two step's from hell,HEART OF COURAGE would go well with these videos, anyway keep this stuff going "love it".
The image's of group b in the old Sanremo rally have to by the most iconic ever. The shots in the twilight and dust with all them spectators is epic. I'd give anything to be on that hairpin through the village
Agreed one of the iconic Rallys and was 50% Tarmac and 50% gravel stages. Shame they got rid of many of the classic rally's in the 90s. Watch rally now and I barely recognise any of the stages.
Good and very rare pictures of Lancia's idea to change tyres during a special stage. In the end, however, (and as far as i know) this attempt did not produce the expected result.
Norbert Jung Yeah it didn’t work for them in 85 with them up against the Audi and Peugeot but it worked for them in 86 when they had the Delta S4. They used it in 87 aswell and maybe 88 and then the WRX banned mid stage pit stops.
