Agreed, from a music standpoint alone, this is absolutely stellar work and arrangement. From the world of theater and a globe of Sondheim devotees, major respect and serious gratitude to see these two worlds meet in so spectacular a fashion! ♥️♥️♥️

"Company" is one of my favorite musicals. It is awesome to hear it played by a corps!

This was Sylvester and Zingali. Man! This still stings to this day. Too bad the judges couldn't grade on how much we grew as people. Billy Carnes! OOSE BABY! Sputnik was here

Even though it was "only" 13th, I would much rather listen to this than the first place corps of 2017!

John S my dude, have you even given BD a chance? The entire show is a tribute to the last 50 years of Drum Corps and looking ahead to what is to come. So much of it just screams classic DCI.

Why did they fold after this? One of my favorite corps back in the day. They had a regal style all their own. Fantastic and very innovative guard!!!

Couple reasons contributed to their demise, but the most notable was the lack of money from sponsors. Like, it was really bad. Bus breakdowns were common, little food was given for rehearsals, and no money for new equipment (Contras were beat to sh*t). However I do feel like 2-7 lasted as long as they did thanks to the members and staff. They always had a great work ethic, and worked hard to keep things going themselves. Morale was always high, even if everything else was going to hell. When started marching Spartans in 2017 (Nashua NH), there were a number of 2-7 vets that were all on staff, and they would tell you stories about the whole experience (like when they would get into fist-fights with the Boston Crusaders LOL). I'm glad they at least able to be the first Eastern corps to be on the podium, years before The Cadets won their first 3-peat.

The musical performance was polished and well interpreted. Sad that it was to be their last performance. Soprano soloist at 10:09 is superior!

I’m happy they at least went out trying something new. I really like this show. There’s only so many times you can play Danny Boy without becoming a parody of yourself.

This year's DCI.... Will be twenty-seven years since "27" fielded a competitive corps. So sad...

Stephanie L. I don't know who arranged the charts this year. I could definitely tell it wasn't Jim wedge because the fans would be going crazy

Frank Dorritie from the Blue Devils arranged our music, you can't' tell the innovative change going on here? The fans were going crazy.

I was there, they weren't gone completely from us. They came back and helped. ALOT. The panels in the color guard are all Sylvester and Zingali.

I've always loved this corps, though I have to admit, as much I like this show, the guard seemed to have lost their sense for innovation. They just weren't pushing the envelope as they did in the late 70s thru early 80s. Here, the drill and guard routine seem rather mainstream.

Why would a 13th place corps fold?
@sl9575
@sl9575 9 лет назад
politicalsheepdog The extra money needed that was given to be in the top 12 was needed to buy new equipment. We needed that extra money. Back then the buses were blown. We barely made it to finals. Star of Indiana had to send for us to help us get there. We should've been in 10th. We were told to change because the activity was changing. George Zingali did help us this year but Marc Sylvester wrote this drill together and they helped us when they could. We barely had any staff to help. By then this corps was a hodge podge of other corps that folded. Memphis Blues, Pride of Cincy, Defenders, among many others.

Steph L Wow, so much in common with Sky Ryders. In 1987 We had bus problems and Star helped us out. Sylvester worked with us as well, I forget which year but I remember him on the field tower helping to improve our drill. Sky Ryders never really made the jump from a small town operation to a large "corporate non profit". The move to Texas killed the corps because the guy who took over didn't get the bingo game going until after the corps folded.

politicalsheepdog I think some of our folks went to march in 87. :) Too sad isn't it. I almost went to the Sky Ryders in 83 after Memphis Blues folded in 83.

It was probably embrassing for a corp like 27th who was always in the top 12 from the very beginning to place 13th, but that can only be blamed on the musical selection. The power and exciting arraignments from the past were lacking. It was really a bad call to fold a full corp, they could of came back bigger and stronger and fault their way back into the top 12 like other corps have done in the past. But respectfully that was the decision at that time. However, I was greatfull to be apart of drum corp at that time and would not trade it for the world. God bless ol school drum corp and the present.
@sl9575
@sl9575 9 лет назад
Tony Y I respectfully disagree. How can you say this was a lacking arrangement? I wonder if you know who arranged it, I bet you would change your mind. The corps had to move forward with the changes that were taking place. We were ahead of our time even then. I marched this year. We poured our hearts and souls and did not get the scores we deserved.It was a beautiful arrangement. It was not a bad call to fold the corps. The money needed that you get from being in top 12 was needed to make ends meet. The owner and one of the founders of DCI George B. had already mortgaged his house so many times just to allow the corps to exist as long as it did. When we didn't make finals, by 3/10th's of a point..... The writing was on the wall. We were not embarrassed at all. Our sign read on finals night, "We gave our best, we have nothing left to give, goodbye". Or something to that effect. It was a sad night. Frank Dorritie arranged our music this year, Marc Sylvester wrote the drill with help sometimes from Zingali. We didn't have alot of staff or help that year. Tom Lizotte and a few other instructors, but basically no help but a few alumni.
