I was in 9 th std.we did not have a TV at home.our's was a small village and only TV available was at school.we used to wake up very early in the morning and used to watch match with other friends from my village.Great memories.
Good old golden days. I was in ninth std . Myself and my brother use to woke up early morning 3.30 am to see all these matches of Benson and Hedges cup. Mother gets angry, so we kept TVs sound volume at low level .
I was watching with my brother & Dad during those early cool mornings under zero volume, after setting a wake up alarm. Same with my mother too but our Dad defended us😊. We brushed our teeth during the break & watched the second session of the match with warm coffee always. We always used to fear David Boon’s devastating batting.Great memories!
Golden era for not only indian cricket but also for international cricket playing countries...artistic bravery with sportsmanship at peak ...used to wake up at 3.30AM by my father who himself was an enthusiastic viewer when i was in 9th standard
I remember This Match having watched it on T.V when in class 9. We were big fans of k.srikanth and Kapil Dev. Lingering memories of getting up at 5 a.m to watch the telecast. missing those days of pure and fearless cricket..Indian team was not to be taken lightly..
Amazing childhood memories of waking up at the crack of dawn and watching these games. The coloured clothing, white ball, channel 9 commentary was nothing short of miraculous for us kids used to dreary DD coverage where it was fun to play ”spot the ball”😂
Haha yes DD coverage in those days was miserable. They always searched for the ball after a shot and would show a grainy fielder chasing “something” 😂😂😂
what a man Mohinder Amarnath kudos and all respect for him being one of the greatest sportsman to come out of many from India we rarely see this but something to learn for all in life.
Mohinder Amarnath, sadly underrated. He was fiercely expressive of his views about the dull selection committee and hence played less for India, but i liked this frank quality of him and has always been his great fan. I am 60 now. I wish Sri. Mohinder Amarnath & his family remain in good health, wealth and peace of mind always.
same for Gavaskar..always wore a white hat and beneath a head guard sort off in all matches..1986 yes I too was in grade 6th then, Richard Hadlee got an Audi( I assume) as man of series then though NZ were 3rd position as being lost to India in semis
I guess im randomly asking but does any of you know a trick to log back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb forgot my password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me
India ki team nahi pahle mumbai ki team khelti thi. 7-8 players were from one part of country. Thats why we were loosing so many matches. Thanks to Dada (sourav ganguli) for making team india
wow this is amazing i used have this game recorded on my beta video recorder when i was a kid and lost the tape. Finally i get to see it again 30 years later !!!
May be school final days, no TV, yet heart and ears flew over to neighbour's TV. Mama's strictness, my unwanted mind, blank eyes use to run over the books, neighbourhood enjoyment, after fall of each australian wickets would collapse me of excitement. Years after we owned TV but still Miss those golden days. Miss that Indian team.
Yess remember this match .as kid ....heard commentry on radio at neighbours balcony with all members.. really it was nail biting moment after every every six we start cheerful dancing 😀
I remember this series i wokup early morning 4 o clock and watch all matches in black and white tv and all matches realy in 9 channel very good coverage i really enjoy
Old days..having b/w tv. But the magic of channel 9 to force to see the match even early in the morning. Gavaskar and shrikant. Ball going to fence fielder running after it. An eye-catching stuff.
Back when the 50 over ODI's really meant something. Only a few in each city in Australia each summer. They'd always be sell outs. 90,000+ here at the MCG for Australia v India... It was a big event!
What an atmosphere what an wether what an people what an organisation what an joy what an skills what an sport days to remember fell the feel for ever ❤️❤️❤️❤️
He was an underrated player,he could bat, average 41,and a good fielder,he bowling in Sheffield shield was very good,if welham, Taylor,or Lawson were captain then better field would have been set,he was no mug,and I wish he had played more.
Greg Matthews should have played a lot more test cricket for Australia. Very underrated player and he was a very good batsman. In fact a very good all rounder.
Those were days when Australia used to win almost every match against India and India used to crumble under pressure. And miraculously Australia used to tick all the right boxes.
Instead of Azhar bowling slow medium in the crucial overs, Kapil could have tried Amarnath / Srikaanth as his bowling options.....this was an important final and sometimes the Indian bowling looked very ordinary.
Alan border . The captain who leads from the front. A calm head on his shoulders. Great grafter of runs . Some of today's batsmen could learn how to play a test innings
@@ganessinv as an Indian, I too happen to greatly admire MSD. But Allan Border is in a different league altogether. Dhoni no doubt was apart from being a great skipper also a great batsman. But his batsmanship genius was limited mostly to ODIs while the true examination of batting greatness is still measured based on how one performs against tough opponents in adverse conditions in tests. And history, stats as well as analytical judgement are witness to the fact Border is next only to Sir Don Bradman as Australia's greatest batsman ever and one of the greatest in all cricket history, ahead in several quarters of even the likes of Jacques Kallis, Ricky Ponting, even Viv Richards and several more. While as a captain, Border competes directly with Clive Lloyd, Peter May and Steve Waugh. In short, some "borders" aren't meant to be crossed.
Interesting match, Srikanth (known as a fast scorer) scored 37 off 71 balls!! On the other hand Ravi Shastri (renowned as a super slow scorer) scored 49 off just 52 balls!!! And this against Aus in Aus at the world's biggest cricket ground (MCG).
Maybe. But this was after Srikkanth being ridiculed for playing irresponsibly. Srikkanth was the real inventor of aggressive cricket (adopted later by players like Jayasuriya, Greatbatch, Sehwag, etc.). Don't compare Shastri and Srikkanth. They had different styles.
Australian grounds had crazy settings those days, Black side screen was inside the boundary line and spiky fence which injured many players while fielding.
Thanks Costa Sports for this wonderful upload including the presentation. The clarity was great. I have seen many matches after this time and even in recent times, the matches did not have this clarity.
Sunilji please craft another sunil to keep test cricket alive because test cricket is the real art of this gentleman man's game faisalabad 127 not out of 82 is sunil a masters innings thank u the master opener of alltimes
Shocked to see Azhar as part time bowler..Good effort by Indians..Ravi Shastri deserve 50..On top it was Australian Caption Border for an amazing 50+ not out.,
I remember the match w 2:08 atching live. I had traveled 200kms to my elder sister's house who had a konark colourt TV at that time. Srikant being caught and bowled by Mathews was the turning point.
I became friends with Roger many years after this game, I told him that our nickname for him was ''Rubbish'' which he smiled at. At least I wa splaying for my country.....
It was very disappointing to note that Australian Capt Allen Border said nothing about the visiting Indian team. Aust was the host. Kapil Dav did. A true sportsmen.
This series is a strarting point for aus domination followed by 1987 wc win 1992 they played well except wc 1996 runner up and a hatric wc champion there after
