This commercial aired on October 10th, 1986. It was run during the broadcast of the "Dallas" on WCBS Channel 2. WCBS is the CBS Affiliate in New York.

I love McDonald’s but I hate to say it Burger King is twice as better. Even the burgers are bigger.

I also like that the Whopper comes in two sizes for two different-sized appetites: the regular-sized Whopper and the Whopper Jr. Another thing that I also like about Burger King, is they offer a choice of two different sides: fries or onion rings.

@@Justin-Hill-1987 now they got double and triple two. It depends on my mood. It depends if I want the double whopper with cheese and bacon, or a triple whopper with cheese and bacon with mayonnaise, mustard, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onions.

It was McDonald's answer to the Whopper in the 1980s that came in a special container that separated the bottom bun and the burger patty from the cold toppings including the top bun, lettuce and tomato (the special package kept the hot side hot and the cold side cold until both burger halves were put together). The closest lettuce/tomato hamburgers to the McDLT that McDonald's introduced in recent memory are the Big Xtra and the Big N' Tasty, except those are prepared like actual hamburgers.
