Nice bike bad ass I had same bike back when I was 18 years old now I'm 52 years and now I got 2 kawaski kx 450s 207 and 2013 both bikes are fast as hell
I graduated high school in 86. I remember seeing all these bikes in the local shops. Not the works replica of course. So true when you said "back when you could rebuild your bike yourself in an afternoon."
Had the same bike . They were great, quick and easy to maintain. Chrome moly bore too if I recall. Nowhere to ride anymore. The river near where I lived as a kid had moto tracks everywhere and continuous trail for miles. Those were the days…
Hey Mr. Kaplan, I said a brief hello to you at the Supercross on April 23. I love your channel, maybe there’s a way you could get us all together to sign petitions in order to be able to ride once again in the state of Massachusetts, particularly Myles Standish. I am 50 years, I spent many miles and hours out there. We need to take it back! Perhaps you have the power with us behind you! Rock on!
Brings back memories. I had bought a thrashed 86 kx250 and rebuilt it over the winter in my family room by the woodburner. Wheeling that thing out in spring was a good day.
#hurst shiftin, SAME HERE! The r&d put into these year bikes make wheelies amazingly easy that beginners after riding for few hours could wheel stand where as after just a week could wheelie up to 6 gear and keep going!
I had the 85 was my first brand new bike I purchased..my buddy had this bike and my other buddy had the 87.. great bikes and we had so much fun on them.. go team green !
That Works Replica KX125 is like A Truly Beautiful Girl- meaning Nothing Can Compare to it! The Blue Seat and White KX lettering looks like it's Brand New out of the Crate.
I knew that sometime you would upload a video of this beautiful machine, it reminds me of my childhood driving a kx 125 from 1989, that sound is unforgettable. Thank you
Use to poach the golf course on one of them, till I got caught.... Cop put it in his cruisers trunk and drove me home! Keep up the good work! No rest for the wicked!
A truly beautiful bike indeed! I love all the 86 Kawasaki KX's they were so advanced for the time. If you ever get a chance to pop this one on your Dyno it would be very interesting to see what an 86 KX makes power wise. I have an 86 trail bike who's engine is pretty much a de-tuned 86 KX125. I've just had it tuned to around 24.5bhp and it makes the power way down the rev range too. It says to me that Kawasaki really got it spot on with the KIPS system and the 85-86 KX motor was a great design for the time too!
@@vincentrayhista1224 Yes that's the one. I have an 86 KMX and while quite different in many ways to the KX works replica, I think it still feels like a well sorted bike.
My first kawi back inthe day was 89 I believe kx125 , I know it was last year of single side radiator, been so long ago I cant remember exact year of mine , I remeber having to replace all the kips power components little aluminum gears and tack sliders and such she was ripper after that
Rode a 1984 KX125 ...In Bagillt N.Wales -back in the early 1990's With my father... We called it The Cob ..old mining landscape ,by The River ... Freedom, Two Stroke -fragrant in the air... Gang of others ,riding free No rules or decisions... Beautiful Memories!!
I had one of these, it was a rocket, used to keep up YZ250s in drags. These Works Replicas WERE 70% EXACT COPIES of Jeff Wards AMA bikes! The KIPS was copied exactly as Jeff Wards bikes that during a Supercross round, a powervalve was removed from a spectators bike in the stadium car park, brought back, checked by scruteneers, dropped into Jeffs bike which he ran 1sts in 3 remaining races even beating RJ with the spectators KIPS part! If you want to learn how to do wheelies, the 1985/86 Kawasaki KXs are your bike as alot of r&d went into balancing them between 50-80 degrees Vetical for Supercross tracks. They have extremly strong barrels where in 1986, 2 x KX250s 2 x 500s in the Australian Finke desert race were mistakenly filled with straight petrol (OR gas as you USA mob say) without 2 stroke oil which on refilling the tanks took the fuel ratios with the remaining fuel/oil in their tanks to over 80:1. All 4 bikes finished the 88km stage, the 250s were hot as hell, 500s not so bad but all piston rings where stuffed, yet the barrels on all of the bikes were perfect, not a single score on any of them which led to HRC Honda later found out, filed a protest about believing Kawasaki were using titanium barrels which after testing was dismissed. The condition of the KX bike engines were described as amazing considering they were being held flat out over 140kph for over 80kms on an Aussie 47deg Ç days with smallest amount of oil.. Yep, original decals, seat, swing arm stickers,. even handlebars original. If was in USA I'd buy that bike, its now a collector's bike!!
Damn.. ! Thanks for that incredible history lesson.. ! Yep.., all original except tires and chain.. Even the KICKSTAND is there.. It's my bike.., owned it for 15 years.. 👍🇺🇸👍
I love them tires . Love tires with some big name ! In big WHITE! LETTERS JUST BAD ASS MAN YOU HUYS ARE AMAZING AND YOUR FAMILY IS BLESSED cpl lucky kids to have you as there pop
Love it! I had this bike. It was fast but the rear shock SUCKED! It would hydraulically lock over sharp square edged bumps or when hopping over downed trees etc. And the high and low speed compression adjusters were useless. My back still hurts from it. An Ohlins shock solved that though. The front fork was a little soft but ok. Great tranny and clutch, great brakes and handling was pretty good. It was a revver, making good power up top but I ported it ,jetted it and installed a PSI hotpipe and made it a real runner. I'd LOVE to own that bike again! That's an awesome business model you have. Super cool! Wish I could play but my back says NO!
There's something about the older two strokes ♥️ They just sound more mechanical. Hey, Kap, where the pictures at ? You got any pictures of this ? I'd love to make this a wallpaper!
I used to ride at this place called the sawdust pits at the top of the river riding up the river bank to get there I went back after 20 years riding my 03 kx125 an it was all paved walking tracks with people walking everywhere like an infestation they were all looking at me like was the heck are you doing here on this thing when the typical old man demanded I stopped or the look on his face would kill me I told him I was born here mate used to ride bikes up here 20 years ago who the fk are you he said no more so I rode home 2 mile an hour tail between legs dogs everywhere hating the loud kx muffler can't ride anywea these days fk them I still do lol
I have the same exact bike about same condition as far as the frame wear but the tank stickers need be replaced and I also need A carburetor. Can't find one 😕
I still got a kx80 1979 a1 wot my dad brought me wen I was 11 I'm 39 now looking to restore it soon ,I need full new plastics If any 1 can help to locate some
Team green bleed green. Powers that be can't keep ignoring the growing numbers of the orv family. Use to be great not to have to hide from cops, sit on your tailgate eat, wrench. It would behoove motorcycle manufacturers to help organize not for prophet low cost ORV parks.
