It's been a long journey. Will a motorcycle that hasn't run for 20 years finally come to life? Or will there be another gremlin to address on this restoration? Watch to find out!
Yep brings back memories. My first bike. Mine had troubles with the pickup coils every once in a while. Getting the carbs all happy was a bit of a pain. Had a F1 exhaust on it. Always loved the double lights and since then I just don't like anything with a single light. Weird I know.
Well done sir! Sounds like you've done a great job on the crab clean - it responds and idles really well....its great that you have saved another beautiful FZ....
*it's aliiiveee* that's awesome! i just finished watching the FZ series so far, found your channel today and i love it. i like your style, you're cool. now I'm gonna go binge watch the rest of your videos, goodbye have a nice day take care stay chill!
Hey man! Just found your video. I live in Rathdrum ID not far from you. Maybe 5 miles away. I bought a 1987 fz600 and the wiring is a nightmare! Would love to pick your brain about it.
Thanks for all your time. Been following these videos for when I pick a basket-FZ up next week. Seems you haven't made a follow up for about a year? Did you get it on the road, track...?
After I got it running a guy locally had messaged me on here needing help with his. Turned out we lived about 4 miles apart and I offered to sell it to him. I think he's got two running FZ600s now. One with fairings and one without.
Hi from the UK , just at watching the FZ ( zee or Zed ? 😂) Thinking of finding me one of these to restore , rode one back in 1988 and remember how well these little Yams handled , looking forward to seeing your next installment , be safe , Matt
Hey Matt! Thanks for the comment! I guess I should actually get back to working on the thing then eh? It's been pretty cold here in North Idaho so I haven't been spending a lot of time in the garage. Cheers mate! Thanks for subscribing!
These videos are awesome! I can’t believe I never came across these. I have an 88 FZ600 that I’m cleaning up right now. I’ve had it for 10 years and I love it! Can you give me some info on the air intakes you used, size…any jetting changes…or just bolt on…etc… And a few years ago I snapped off one of the ends for the float pin while trying to get a stuck one out … ended up with a new (used) carb bank so I felt your pain. I wish I was smart enough to drill the stuck one out 😏
Glad ya found the vids! As for the filters, the stock airbox was not in great shape (I always try to start from stock to get a baseline before modifying air/fuel mixture). I used some K&N's that my customer had in a box of parts so not exactly sure which ones they were. Jetting I didn't increase size a bit just for the increased airflow. Half up on pilot and 1 full up on main I think. I didn't go stage 2 dynojet because of the stock exhaust being used....stock won't breath quite as well as full aftermarket system so didn't seem fitting to open up the jets that big. I did play with needle height and mixture screws as well as bench synced the carbs before installing.
I just got a 87 fz600. Currently putting it back together. Question for some reason it has fz750 ignition coils should i remove these and order the oem coils?
The bike has been out having a good time since she went back together. Owner has been doing a few track days this year. Here's his Instagram if you care to follow him. 👍 instagram.com/636insta?igshid=1wc7ompax391k

@@MotoMedic is there a chance I could meet up with ya in person? The guy who rewired this 600 just made a mess! Lol. It's a nightmare! Wires and fuses everywhere!
@@MtnFghtr We could probably do that. I'm pretty busy this week and over the weekend but might have some time next week. Best way to reach me is DM me on IG @1motomedic
