Let me tell u I feel u my friend. I’d be having a cool enjoyable time on a project like this as well. I’m getting a kick just watching u. Thanks for sharing ! 😎👍
You are an outstanding worker young man, this truck is going to be awesome when you have it completed! You are also a great video guy, your work is easy to follow and understand! Keep it coming!!
It is fun listening to you describe how much fun you are having. It makes every mechanical minded man feel alive again. Would love to do what you are doing. Great job. Totally enjoy you and your videos. Can't wait to see this truck when you are done with it.
Found you're channel from the first video of the truck and I've been hooked every since, loving the videos buddy, keep them coming, sending respect/encouragement from the Uk 🇬🇧, I love old trucks!!
*Fantastic* job Mike! 🙂👍 That Cummins looks nice all painted up. Good call on flushing the cooling system. Really enjoying the series and getting to see all your hard work pay off 🔧
Hi From Morrinsville, New Zealand Loving the channel, love the fact you admit you know not much about most things and are still doing a great job. Keep asking for help because someone will always give you some great advice. Look forward to the next video.
Nice Saturday grin, when you get to step back and see progress. Of course as you go along in any project there's always things to improve it and spend more $ (ask me how I know), however, the good feeling keeps you moving forward. Nice work!
Good video again I helped my dad rebuild a Volvo F88 you your learning all the time all the thumbs down are trolls shouldn't worry about them it would be a lot better if they just went in the comments and gave there point of view rather than giving you the thumbs down your trying Very enjoyable to watch from England UK.
Enjoying your videos from the Hunter valley ( about an hour north of Sydney ) Australia.I know your frustration, every time I drop the cab of my '85 Kenny the the throttle linkage hits the oil dip stick and revs flat out on start up. easy to sort it but a pain none the less. My truck has a Cummins 400 big cam and am very impressed with your methodical way of going through "jolly green". Keep up the good work, your'e going to have an awesome truck.
Great attitude buddy looking forward to when you are driving her around. You are doing one hell of a job.We have something in common on the Sicilian side.
As a retired Trucker, back in the day we use to call a power washer,.....a Steam Jennie. A suggestion for you. The next time you install double belts on the pulley, stagger the printed section to prevent a break in the belt where they are fused. This way if a belt snaps you still have a functional belt. I'm just say'n. Love the videos on Jolley Green....keep 'em coming.
Thing i like most here is that you're fixing it mechanically first, and then will take a look on aesthetics. I would do the same as well, because first rule is to get this truck being healthy and usable everyday, and then make it beautiful! your engine is looking very beautiful and fresh with new parts and paint, i love it. I would work on the bottom of the cabin with some new insulation panels. Don't forget to take apart your turbo and make a revision of it. Thanks for the video, very well done. Cheers from Italy!
Thanks for the shoot out! Really enjoyed the video. I have the handle set aside at that yard. It will be after the 5th before make it there. Also, something that works for me is I use tin foil to wrap around hoses and wires when painting.
Man this was a good video man. That's awesome to hear you Italian. I have a little bit of Italian in me as well. It's just awesome how you make your own parts for your truck. That was also a good thing that you change the water pump while you was there. Don't want to get it on the road and then the water pump goes out. Now I know I have big extremely wide feet but need to find out who's little wide feet that was. " LOL " your truck is coming along good man. Keep up the awesome work you are doing on your truck. You take it easy man and try not to work too hard.
Man I really want a cab over so bad 😩. Just can’t find one here in Florida. Keep up the good work man, your channel is definitely going to grow. Love Jolly Green!
Gasket is for a different style pump that they have just cut the tab with the bolt hole on that gasket. It will break off and get lodge in your coolant system somewhere.
I don't blame you one little bit for taking back that reman water pump. What a piece of trash! The new one was far superior. Jolly is coming along nicely. Love your channel and that beautiful truck.
@@NOT_FOR_HIRE just a reminder, a lot of n14 parts will fit on your big cam. For example a ht60 turbo is a good upgrade for your engine and if you chose later to go with a front charge air cooler and ditch the water cooled intake manifold a n14 will fit a there are a lot to choose from to get the perfect routing for ic piping. Food for thought
Love ya vids man! Take your time and do the important things, I use to watch Bruce Wilson back when he was doing youtube. But people were hating on him for enjoying his truck by chroming it out lol. Always remember to have fun and not to feed the trolls. Much love from Malaysia, wished there were American cabovers in Asia! Love the way Jolly Green looks!
Hot water pressure washer" = "steam genny" is what most call them and yes, the more powerful ones are great at taking off paint and prepping the surface. Small air grinder = "die grinder."
When I saw this pop up in the feed I clicked right away. I am not be a trucker but watching someone go and replace things and make it new again brings me joy. I am originally from Maine but I am in Hawaii right now and they run cab overs for the trash trucks mainly. Can’t wait to see this moving down the road.
Smart idea replacing the water pump while you were in there to say the least. It needs to be done. Cummins pumps are one of the easiest to change that I've done. The composite (plastic impeller) pumps are known time bombs in basically any vehicle equipped with them. The impeller can 'delaminate' off the shaft and the shaft will just free wheel without the impeller spinning. I've also seen them come loose enough where the car will start to run hotter than normal at idle until you blip the throttle. That's where it breaks loose just enough to keep it from freewheeling on the shaft until you give it some rpm's. They also get jammed in there, and sometimes break apart sending chunks of plastic all over in there. To answer your question, no, that amount of play in the bearings is NOT normal. Its shot and ready to be replaced no doubt. It comes with accelerated wear due to the forces of the fan clutch assembly which can also be timebombs depending on its condition/ balanced the blades/ proximity to the radiator/ stifness of engine mounts, etc. They can explode due to the reasons and cause a lot of damage. Denting hoods, punching holes in the rad/ condenser, etc. I have seen it A LOT over the years. Most of the aftermarket, and probably the 'updated/ superceded' OEM Cummins pump most likely is metal. Lots of pumps have sloppy castings and leftover flash material. It isn't uncommon at all to see that type of shit. At least from what I've seen in almost 25 years of turning wrenches they are like that more than they should be. This truck is pretty sweet bro, thanks for sharing this video.
where that hose is rubbing where you changed the brass elbow , just take another piece of that hose about 2 or 3 inches long , split it with a razor blade , and put it over the hose with a zip tie to keep it snug and in place , then you have a sacrificial surface that is rubbing , and you will not have to ever worry about it ...
small tip as someone coming from (UI) design: paint the handles of any valves a different colour than the engine, like for instance black or red. This will make it far easier to find the valves should you need to access them and also will give you better orientation around the engine room.
Pressure Washer.....Power Washer......Across the big Water, we call it "Hochdruckreiniger". But that´s just as complicated, as everything German. :D Love your Content btw, and you have a new Sub!
Cerakote for the win on your exhaust system. Sure you can go the HPC route, but Cerakote provides a wider range of colours. I recommend Cerakote Satin Aluminum as your standard "go to" colour. But.... and this is a big but.... you have to pull your items off the vehicle and you have to do the job right. That means vapour blasting, followed by pre coat heating to get rid of oils in the metal, followed by coat application, followed by cooking in an oven. I've used Cerakote extenisvely on several motorcycle restorations and it's fantastic.
If you can afford it (you certainly have the room) invest in a vapour blasting machine plus an old used bakery oven (something big enough to put larger truck parts in it). And then do all the Cerakote work yourself. Every day you'll look at your truck and you'll think to yourself... "Yes, I can pull you off and I can Cerakote you too!" LOL
Cummins is getting parts made in China and they are junk. Exhaust can be ceramic coated inside and out . Clutch rod connecting is one out of a hundred, as it’s dropping slow walk over and line it up . Very common. Anti seize is your friend. Cummins specific hose
