My 85 received a swap as well. Ls1 and tranny from a 2002 z28. Night and day! I’ve got a few videos of it on my channel

I bought the IROC-Z in 1985. The first year. Electric blue. Beautiful car. Kept it 12 years. It was horribly unreliable in every aspect of that car. Sadly, I traded in my '83 Z-28 5.0 High Output 5-speed to buy the IROC. I never had trouble with that one in the 2 years I had it. Nice to see the prices are rising. People more than 30 years ago said that would never happen. They were wrong.

I had a 83 Z28 in 89 I loved that car BUT had nothing but nightmares with it,,WHY? Cause mine was the crossfire injected one, it allways caught on fire too!

@@jimmycline4778 Here's an interesting story. In 1983 when I set out to buy a Z-28, I wanted it with all the options. I finally bought one at the third dealership that I went to. The salesman steered me away from the Crossfire-equipped ones. He showed me the H.O. 5.0 and told me "they were having a lot of probs with the Crossfire Injection ststem". I drove out with the H.O. 5.0 5-speed that day. Absolutely no regrets. I loved that car. More than the '85 IROC I bought two years later. The salesman's honesty made my life better. And, to this day, I appreciate it.

Yes I agree with you, I've heard the same story when people say the IROC-Z won't have any value and I said SH💩T, keep in mind that's thee only Gen CAMARO with the name IROC-Z and everybody knows that name.

I had a ‘91 Z28 (not an IROC….they stopped making them in ‘89 or ‘90, I think) and had overheating issues with it as well as some crazy computer stuff going on with it. Other than that, I loved the car…..think they’re beautiful. I sold it and bought an ‘06 GTO then later a ZL1 Camaro…..yeah, still have a Camaro “Jones.” While I had the ‘91 I also had a ‘71 2nd gen Camaro I was turning into a pro tourer but had to sell it when I bought the ZL1. Sometimes when I’m commuting to work I’ll see a beautiful ‘89 or ‘90 bright red IROC Z28 with T-Tops parked on the side of Hazard Street in Garden Grove and admire the thing.

Have an 89 w/305 5speed just over 19,000 miles all original except tires and battery.

A 5 speed 89 is a nice one to have. I sold my 16,000 mile 350 auto car two years ago. I’ve got a couple of videos of it on this channel.

I ordered an '87 w/5.7 & IROC Package #3 including the factory louvers in mid-late 1986. I owned it 18 years and it had 20,200 miles on it when i sold it in 2005. I got $15k out of it back then.

I bought my first third gen in July 1986, I was 21 at the time. It was a dark blue z28 with silver ground effects. LG4 305, three speed 200 auto. Nothing to brag about performance wise but it sure looked cool. I paid $6,000 for it and kept until 1991. Btw the 87 iroc 350TPI is the one to have in my opinion. Check out my video of my blue 89. It sold last year for $43k, I only paid $16k for it in 2015.

LG4 was a SLUG of a motor for sure😂 My first IROC was an 86' LG4 M5 that had 120k on it when I bought it in 1997. I was 16yo and quickly blew it up (probably on its way when I got it off a wholesale lot). This is where my addiction to cars started:). Learned alot of lessons. most of which cost money. Ended up buying a 350 crate motor put a Performer and a 3310 Holley on it and thought I had a rocket ship!😂 Good times🤙

@@shanerivers8141 I hear ya, addicted for sure. In 88 I was working a part time job in a Ford Dealer parts department. Was able to purchase a rebuilt 350 4 bolt main long block (still bolted to a pallet and wrapped in shrink wrap) from our inventory. We dropped that in along with a 350 turbo auto and a Holley 4BBL carb. How sh** that third gen would pull. I still remember manually shifting it stop light to stop light. Fun cars

The motors available for that time were iron slugs. Performance was crap. But that was acceptable at the time. In the right hands these cars can be redone with the proper performance to match the looks

So were most cars in the past including tri fives and the majority of muscle era cars. No less desirable in spite of being “slugs.” Motor swaps have always remedied this issue. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aVZw9sbRTwM.htmlsi=Yt-l2-mt2NgR4-Ou
