1987 Mets 

What a frustrating season. Such a talented team came up short.

I remember this year and the 1987 Mets well. They absolutely could have won it all again that year if not for Gooden's suspension and the various injuries that year. They still won 92 games despite all the problems.

1987- The year of the Home Run in a time when that many HR's was insane

It's amazing that homeruns back in the 80s barely got over the fence.

That 87 lineup put up sick numbers that year. Just some unfortunate injuries on the pitching front, and that September extra inning loss to the Cards took the wind out of their sails. What could have been.

Lenny Dykstra never got into controversy.

The Mets were snake bitten by the injury bug that year. They would have won the division again if it weren't for that. Despite that, they still had the 2nd best record in the NL.

mets not winning in 87 was really very shameful

Any other year 92 wins would've been a successful year for most teams. For the '87 Mets though, it was a huge letdown after their epic '86 championship season.

The Wilson-Dykstra collision 14:50. is a memorable play.

Look at the way they celebrated every victory...in those days it seemed they just wanted it more
