I think that core is the one that revived the Steelers; the team was also left in good shape for Bill Cowher (not only did Chuck Noll win 4 Super Bowls, but he also led a quietly effective talent infusion towards the end of his tenure).
I watched this game at my parents' house because my dad got a satellite dish so my little brother could watch the Vikings. This was awesome, watching Dan Marino pick apart the Steel City defense in the second half. @1:34:09.....I always remembered this play and this call by Sam Nover. Not just the " I think...it is..." when Duper scored. But the "what a positively electrifying offense this is that Danny Marino conducts in Miami" comment. Great stuff.
Great era for NFL man do I miss watching Dan the Man play,he was the real deal, wanted to win a SB SO BAD,but shula never put a championship caliber D with MARINO'S offenses,if they had just a good D I think he mighta got back there, but they were annually terrible D's,had some decent players, but terrible coordinator in OLIVIDATTI!!
you're so right. biggest injustice in american sports. dumbass owner/management never got him a decent RB either. it was Dan do it all or Dolphins wouldn't win ... agreed!!!!!!
I always liked him. I only watched a couple of games that he called, but absolutely remembered this specific game. I watched it because I liked Dan Marino and my satellite dish picked it up.
@@jackkitchen737 the good ole days of the satellites we had one when I grew up watched alot of games on wild feeds. Sometimes you had the announcers Sometimes you didn't miss them days
@@scottranger8909 I remember watching a few games with no announcers. And sometimes not much camera changes lol. Loved those days....although NBC games were hit and miss.
@@jackkitchen737 there was alot of things you could find on it if you searched really good. I remember watching the series finale of cheers 3 day before it aired. I loved the dish. News agent we had in town had a magazine thsf was sort of a TV guide for it
I didnt know Sam Nover was doing reginal NFL for NBC as late as 1987? Possibly 1988 as well as an "Olympic replacement". I know he did NFL games for CBS in 1982, also did some work for the peacock before that is I recall. Did some syndicated college football too.
I’m A Raiders fan stuck in Altoona Pa. right in the middle Steeler country. But I can’t help but think if the Steelers would have drafted Marino right after having Bradshaw that would have to be or go down in history as the best one to combination at the QB spot.! And the Steelers would’ve gave Marino A Super Bowl because the Steelers would’ve gave him two things Miami never did a running game and a defense.!!
jesus that would have been a dream come true .... would've rolled into the 80's and 90's with more SB rings than ever ... and danny boy couldn't win shit w the dolphins cause management there isn't like in pittsburgh
Wasn't he from Pittsburgh? RIP, I didn't know he had died. Also worked for CBS, Raycomm and NBC football as well as their Grand Prix bowling events. I think Ralph Hacker was from Pittsburgh as well. Did CBS NFL pbp
