He would have outgained Sanders if he wasn't injured Sanders total yards and TDs 39 Touches for 215 yards and 2 TDs vs Gaddies first half stats 18 or 19 touchs for 213 yards and 2 TDs
Gaddis would have gone down as one of the all time great running backs in college football. Probably the best OU ever had. If I remember correctly, he had rushed for nearly 900 yards (over 7 yds/carry) before he tore his ACL against Texas in ‘89. Even after his return he was clearly. It as fast and still rushed for over 1200 yds.
@@artandarchitecture6399 neither was OUs defense dude and I did check the states Sanders out rushed Gaddis by a few yards and he only did it because it was his entire game stats Gaddis got injured and didn't play the 2nd half so Gaddis entire 1st half stats matched Sanders entire game states Snaders should be glad that back then freshman weren't really allowed to win the Heisman
Watching Jerry Parks run Sanders down at the 15:50 mark is one of the most vivid memories of this game for me. I thought he was a can't miss NFL prospect. I think he beat the shit out of someone over a cassette tape. Part of the madness going on around the program at that time I guess .
Good edit here. Seems like the edits get better and better, not complaining about the earlier ones either. I would guess older games are easier to edit compared to newer broadcasts. Commercial breaks were handled way different back in the 80s and 90s. The commercials didn’t mess with the ebb and flow of games.
Thank you! As far as today's games it's not only commercial breaks, but it seems like every other play has to go to review anymore... talk about killing the momentum of a game. And then there's targeting. Nothing like seeing a kid get tossed from the game for going low to make a good hit only to have the runner lower his head/fall down and helmets collide. 15 yards & he's tossed. Then there's the lack of defense due to all the rules against it. It's gotten tougher & tougher for me to even watch current football.
John Boisvert was my social studies teacher in middle school and said Barry Sanders would just work out jumping and touching the ceiling with the palms of his hand over and over
Ya all remember Jamil Hollaway the OK Wishbone QB that won National Championship in 80s? Its weird that he didnt get drafted in NFL. Believe he was a very late rounder of 5th or 6th but he was the most 1 year wonder of all time of sports. The wish Bone Offense, a pre cursor to RPO without the flanking of WRS and mostly the run on outside sweep. Canadian Football was where the RPO Offense came from besides the High Schools use of the style back then.
22:42- 4rth and a long 1, huge play, OU puts 7 men in a small box and bunches them all practically inside the tackles. Hey, let's run right at them inside the tackles.
OSU driving for the game winning TD, Sanders close to the first down on the OU 19, about 1:00 left. Then, out of the blue sky, a phantom personal foul penalty on OSU. I had forgotten about that horrible call. Guess we can consider that no-call on the pass interference in the end zone in the last minute of the 2021 game a make up call.
Why is it that when a pass is thrown to a guy and he should have had it but it bounces off of him the announcers say." oh,..he dropped it "? You have to catch it before you can drop it. They aren't 'dropping it' , they just never caught it in the first place when they should have had it.
Barry Switzer's last Season as head coach for Oklahoma....One of the BIGGEST MISTAKES OKLAHOMA EVER MADE was Running BARRY SWITZER OUT OF TOWN... this MISTAKE would last entire decade of the 1990s
OU administration was a little tired of being on probation with NCAA for recruiting violations and program totally out of control. Switzer earned what happened to him. Switzer would sell his mother down the river for a great football player.
@@robertnoble6600 ....I laughed my butt off when he got arrested when he was coaching Dallas and he took a gun on a plane it that had been post 911 Barry would be in jail where he belongs ...
Luck doesn't exist, it's called making big plays. Not everything has to be planned, but when you develop great skills and prepare well you can make things happen. That's why these so called "lucky" plays and wins only happen to the top teams.
Right on the money there Ryan. But that is part of the OU machine. Big Eight Ref’s bought and paid for. They also have key people inside the NCAA that support the Machine to this day.
don’t give me that shit , quit crying , you had Barry Sanders with the greatest rushing season in college football history with 2,600 yards , and then mike gundy had a wide open Brent Parker in the end zone that would give you a 35 - 31 lead , so don’t give me that bullshit , boomer sooner .
OSU can't survive without OU.. Plus it's pretty much a guaranteed win for OU every year... The only reason OU didn't leave the big twelve a few years ago but felt sorry for the cow punks.. Whats the series record anyway... Lol... Only an OU fan will answer that
OSU QB was straight GARBAGE. Hoe many INTs? How many sacks and incomplete passes? Barry Sanders is the GREATEST College FOOTBALL PLAYER EVER. He still Produced with a Terrible Qb and passing game. Barry was the ONLY threat.
