Nice 1988, got a 94 and looking at these on ytube is my new hobby.Those dashes never crack but the gas gauge and paint...They have good color schemes. Repainted my original green with silver rocker panels, wish it was silver with green sides but oh well. Need to find more lug nuts, discount tire is fired.

Awesome looking Dakota. I've always loved this generation Dodge Dakota. I remember when it was first introduced. I remember saying *"holy shit! It's about time someone offered a proper truck. It's not huge, but it's not tiny either."* I was disappointed when it was restyled in the mid-90s. Its styling may have been dated by 1997, I found it more attractive than when Dodge restyled it.

Beautiful truck in excellent condition. 3.9 is a good engine. Mine had 245,000 miles on it until it gave up the ghost, I replaced it with '96 running gear.(5.2) My only issue with your video is you state it's a 3.9 magnum. Magnum engines weren't available until '92. Not to nit-pick, but 3.9 engines in '88 were 125 HP and Magnums were 180 HP. Kind of a difference there. Just a little info. for ya. Real nice truck, though.

Actually magnums were in the 70s.... Not 92 these Chrysler engines bro have been around a long time. In fact the hemi engine was created in 1953. And You're confusing the horse power Because his magnum is an older design (it has nothing to do with brand).... Dodge Created the magnum series to redesign the hemi for a while then went back to hemi.... Now the older engines for example this 3.9 magnum the 125 horsepower.... Was the original (carb engine..... ) Verses the 180 horsepower..... 3.9 magnum (fuel injected. ) Fuel injection gets you more power. That's why most Companies went to fuel injection than the original carb.

They're bringing back the Ford Rangers, and the Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon have been back. Why won't Dodge/Ram bring the Dakota back?

my brother and I had one from high school and through our entire racing careers. We got it was an 87 no power house but super dependable we got it in 2005 and the odometer was a 93k had it for over 10 years until the rear end popped because of a leaking axle seal cause water to get into the rear end. Ended up getting over 450k out of the thing since we drove it so much highway with it. Only thing that went was the transfer case at 325k. I'm always looking for one that's in decent shape but in the north east it's tough everything rust's especially when it's from the 80s. Just a really good truck, that and the 4x4 Jeep Comanche crew cab short bed with the 4.0 auto. It was a sharp looking truck, and basically both Mopars haha.

Do these old trucks start normal in the cold weather in winter months? With them being TBI? Say around 23-35°

How much is this truck worth?
@gittyupalice96
@gittyupalice96 5 лет назад
Lol I own a 1989, so 1 model year newer.. As well as being the top of the line version with every option my truck is worth about $700.00 In pristine condition, that would mean like this truck with 50,000 miles.. But my truck however has almost 400,000 miles so the value is zero.. Wich is the best part, I cant sell it so I fixed everything and drive it forever. Un-killable engine and transmission. The transfer case did die at 300,000 miles however..

Low mileage vehicles this old is bad news.

i disagree, ive had plenty of older cars with low mileage. I still do
@Eliyourcarguy
@Eliyourcarguy 10 лет назад
I have to disagree on that also.
@Mudracer41
@Mudracer41 8 лет назад
Totally disagree. As long as they're not left to sit, low milage is great. Only problem w/this video is title....3.9 Magnum....no magnum in '88, just 120 h.p. 3.9. Otherwise, nice truck!
