I’m Jamaican and I came to watch the woman whom record every one is still trying to beat. She is absolutely beautiful 🤩 and fast as hell. Just beautiful.
so sad she's gone, forgotten about this completely..she was so amazing & so beautiful as well. & nice to see her husband pick her up for a victory twirl on the track..RIP flojo you are sadly missed, even now.
I only just discovered this woman today, and she was chosen by God. Her persona is so focused and simple, she has the strongest most calm and peaceful nerves i have ever seen a human have, and she is dedicating her win to the highest above her. She has the caliber of a biblical legend. From the minute i saw her i immediately felt a mysterious attraction to her even before knowing of her achievements.
I remember watching this on television. I can’t believe the announcers weren’t screaming at the tops of their lungs about what they were witness to. When her form is mentioned concerning her arm swing never changes, the fact her shoulders are on the same plane and have no bounce at all shows why her arms and stride never change. Her form is still trying to be emulated. Simply the smoothest stride ever. 2022 and her times still stand.

I loved Flo-Jo, but her heroics in a single Olympic does appears suspect, but I loved her anyway. We all cheated and sin in some kind of way or another.
@@characterunderconstruction5891 No, never tested positive to any banned substance during her life and I would surmise that no samples of her urine or blood survived to be tested in later years. This makes it impossible to prove whether or not she doped. Armstrong was accused of doping during his first Tour de France win by Christophe Bassons - a member of the Festina team and known by his teammates as the only clean rider among them - of doping. Armstrong was found to have traces of Cortisone in his system at the time but the team doctor back dated a prescription for medication containing this substance. Years later Armstrong's frozen samples from 1999 onwards were tested using new methods and found to contain EPO. The truth was out. It should be noted that cycling was rotten to the core and the dirtiest of sports at this time and until Armstrong was unveiled as a cheat. Nearly every rider was doping. Cheating isn't sinning. It deprives the world of true champions and excellence in sport and makes us question and therefore tarnishes the achievements of those who are not cheats.

She was my Shero! I had posters of her on my wall in high school and my inspiration when I ran track in the 80s. I was and still devastated by her passing. Forever missed, gone to soon, my lady Flo-Jo running with the Heavenly Angels as I type this. ❤🙏🏾
When you watch FloJo run, there is something *mechanically* different about how she runs, particularly when she is moving at high speed. This technique, I believe, is a large part of why she is quicker than other athletes.
I completely agree! Her legs barely make contact with the track before she raises them again for her next stride. Her technique is so flawless and beautiful to watch. No action is wasted. Never seen another athlete like that. Which is why her record has stood the test of time!
She was definitely "stronger" head to toe for her body size. More control. She was doing a "reach" technique which was being coached at the time. Now days they do "active recovery" which has proven to be faster. So basically with today's knowledge she could challenge 21.0 in the 200m and 10.3's in the 100m.
Look at her knees... please look at her knees.... And also remember during this time... there was a male that was running a very similar style.. where it appeared as if they're excelerating through the entire race...Carl Lewis ran this way..
Thats absolutely correct and when she was engaged to Al Joyner, I met them in London and Al Joyner said he was looking at how Flo-jo's running style and was making mechanical changes to the way she ran as the weakest part of her race prior to 1988 was the last 40 meters so it was about building her strength, (the strength would ensure control & relaxation) and adopting a 'Bouncing' stance rather than trying too hard to create speed, which was how she ran prior to meeting Al Joyner. It all came together nicely with Flo-jo gaining that technique in control & Relaxation.

FloJo's death was caused by an epileptic seizure due to a congenital brain disorder, sadly drowned RIP. Florence Griffith Joyner retires from the field On February 22, 1989, five months after the Seoul Olympic Games, Griffith Joyner announced her retirement from track and field. When discussing her retirement with Liguori, Griffith Joyner said: "I retired in 1989 because I could no longer train at 100%, the way I used to train. If I can't give it my all, I don't want to give it at all." Griffith Joyner moved on with her life. She became a mother, pursued fashion design and continued to combine sports and style. She even designed the 1990 NBA uniforms for the Indiana Pacers. After the death of Florence Griffith Joyner, doping allegations against her intensified. Many believed that illegal performance enhancers may have contributed to her death. However, after the autopsy, Dr. Richard Fukumoto, forensic medicine expert, clearly stated that no changes caused by steroids or other doping agents could be detected in her body. "This report allows Florence Griffith Joyner to rest in peace," said Primo Nebiolo, then president of the International Association of Athletics Federations. “Her family has had to endure incredible media attacks, many trying to undermine her legacy without any real evidence. This campaign harmed the entire sport and the anti-doping campaign. I expect more responsible behavior from media representatives in the future. I hope that after this, many members of the athletic world will assure the family of their love and sympathy." The 100m and 200m world record holder is FloJo, these are the facts. Facts are stubborn things. "FloJo was juicing". These are just assumptions. The truth is, no one has ever proven these allegations. So FloJo's world records are and will remain official. I don't see anyone who can topple them. FloJo achieved her results with the perfect harmony of body, soul and spirit. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Florence Griffith Joyner's style and speed brought her international fame, but her Olympic performance was clouded by skepticism. A year after the Games, in 1989, a former American athlete named Darrell Robinson told a European magazine that Griffith Joyner had given her money to buy growth hormones. Griffith Joyner denied the allegations, telling the New York Times, "It's all made up lies about drugs. I'd be crazy to do drugs." In 1998, sports commentator John Feinstein said on NPR's Morning Edition, "The rumors were in Seoul in 1988, and I think the first thing to note is that he never tested positive," he said. "But she became a star late. She was 28 at the time... These rumors will always be there and she's been asked about them throughout her career, which she's always denied." The International Olympic Committee's medical board says it conducted rigorous drug testing on Griffith Joyner during the 1988 Olympics - and it always came back negative. Griffith Joyner spoke to journalist Ann Liguori about the allegations in 1991: "I knew I had never taken drugs, so I didn't let it bother me when people said that. I knew it was something that was in the news," she said. "People were looking for personal things to point at the athletes. Try not to buy it and just focus on what needs to be done and move on." I know it's hard to accept the fact that FloJo is the best in the world, pure. No one has ever proven that it is muddy. That being said, I understand that you are suffering and trying to smear FloJo's memory, but that only qualifies you. Your baseless accusations are just trying to reassure me, I am calm because I know the truth about FloJo's purity. So you can say anything until you prove that your words are empty. . She is the only woman to hold 2 athletics world records for more than 35 years. I'm sorry you can't understand that there are people in our world who can create admirable acts without any doping.
She never failed a drug test. So that evidence says she's not a drug cheat. The governing bodies feel the same way evidently because her name is still in the record books. They have no problem stripping people of the records and medals if PROVEN to be drug cheats. Suspiciously fast times I'll admit, but can anyone make accusations against Flo Jo without making the same accusations against the Russian and German girls she was running against? Here's something else suspicious, you never see the German or Russian girls in these finals anymore since the more stringent drug testing began. What, suddenly they're not fast anymore? They once held all the individual and relay records. American sprinters are always there, have been, consistently since the 60s. I grew up with black people, went to racially mixed schools. During gym, they were consistently the fastest even as children. It didn't matter what the activity, the black children were naturally faster. That's not a boast or an embellishment, it's simply the truth. This is something black people are aware of, whites people are too. Evelyn Ashford, who is my fave sprinter, (not faster) but just as fast as Flo Jo. She tied one of Flo Jo's records before Flo Jo reclaimed it, in this very event. Yet no one accuses her of doping, nor should they. She's just fast...The Kenyans and Ethiopians routinely set amazing distance records, no one accuses them of doping because a look at their body types belies any such notion. They are just fast. (distance).. Michael Phelps, the world greatest swimmer. Medal after medal, record after record. It's just accepted that he did it clean. So suspicious or not, there's no evidence that he cheated. Should it be leveled against him that he did? In my mind, NO! There is no evidence that he did. There is no credible evident Flo Jo did. Only suspicion! If ever PROVEN she cheated, I'll be the first to denounce.

As running is considered more mental than physical, this level of focus would be yet another talent setting her apart. So both her mind and body were burning brightly.

@@shernettegrant5538 Theres no such word as CANT for track and field. When Michael Johnson ran that incredible 19.32 in 1996 at the Atlanta olympics. The experts said that would stand for at least 50 years. 12 years later along comes Usain Bolt. And runs 19.30 at the Beijing Olympics in 2008. One day a perfect female specimen will arrive. And take at least 100th of a second off of it. And her 100M record too. Records are made to be broken. It's just a matter of how long it takes. 1 year or 100 years they will all fall one day. The human performance is forever inching forward.
@Rochelle carmel that was evil to judge Flo and you and Gwen have no proof just suspicions. Judge not or you will be judged.” You will be judged and talked about like that after you die when you’re not here to defend yourself against people who had no proof or nothing to back up their personal suspicions. Flo passed every random test when she was alive and after she died there were no drugs in her system and she trained up to her death. Shame on you!
Though there are some female track and field athletes that are awesome to watch but FloJo remains Unmatched❤ no one not even close can deliver the grace eloquence athleticism, and prowess in a performance...that she delivered. I know they are in their own lane but there are a few that should watch her playback and take notes frfr❤
It is literally impossible for a world record to resist 35 years with the progress in apparels, tracks, training, integration, science and techniques. Women's 100, 200, 400 and 800 m records have been in the best of the cases there for 35 years now. in most of the cases no one has even gone close to those results, accomplished in not-exceptional conditions. This is simply incompatible with human evolution, so it is difficult to exclude an artificial "support"
I can never have enough of her Flo Jo the sculpted beauty what an awesome physique so perfect i remember watching her run in the Olympics i was spellbound wow look at this woman how can one ever forget her my fav 🥰🥰❤️❤️👍👍
She crash, destroy leterally all the others in the last fourthy meters as says the commentator : "when Flo reaches the straight a head, all the others can go home" . She was beauty also under the maximum effort, a true loveble angel that is flying away too early. Hearing her husband scream "Gweny.., Gweny.." and takes she in his arms, it's still an incredible emotion 💞💞💞💞 Legend.
