@@seanraines5871 That is Lisa Sliwa, the ex wife of Curtis Sliwa the founder of the Guardian Angels who patrolled the NYC subway trains to fight crime despite what the Democrats wanted as typified by Mayor Ed Koch of NYC at that time. I am a New Yorker who grew up in NYC during the Mad Men era.
Especially how they thought he was stupid to suggest to legalize all drugs. Like think about, we allow Alcohol in our society even though it has similar long term effects that of Meth, Crack and Heroin but we don't make it illegal.
No where not. The elections were rigged I had to deal with that shit in 07 and 08 then again in 2012 when his popularity was soaring. When the Iowa caucus had only just begun the voting results came up on the screen with Ron Paul at like 47 or 48% and he’s he only candidate who every night slowly moved backwards. They had to leave him in second place during some of the primaries because he had so many votes. When the supporters realized what was h happening they started taking over the state GOPs and took the delegate seats. The RNC during their convention in Florida kicked out legit delegates (I believe every delegate from Maine) voted to change the rules with no roll call to make it so the delegates had to vote for the candidate(s) in first place. That’s actually what helped trump win his nomination. I mean this shit was fkd I would never waste a joule of energy to go and vote in this state. What a Fkn joke and they did the same thing to trump against Biden except they strategically used the mail in votes to cheat
takes a man of true conviction to undertake onslaughts like that time and time again for 30years and never change your stance. Keep fighting for what's right Dr. Paul. You have my full support.
Dude there was never anyone as brave and true to his conviction as Dr Paul. It reminds me of those debates (especially during the 2008 election) where he reminded me of Daniel in the lions den.
The irony of Morton Downey morally attacking drug legalization of something like marijuana (not well correlated with lung cancer) a few years before dying from legal tobacco (extremely well correlated with lung cancer) is a sad irony of what a clueless man he was.
Oh god, those statists... Props to Ronny getting a word in about voluntaryism with those statists just standing there with there fingers in their ears screaming, "Na na na na, I can't hear you! Muh statism!"
This man has the courage of a lion. I've been watching his videos today on you tube, and have so much respect for ron paul. i was too young and naive to appreciate him when he was still active in politics. i just recently became of age to vote a year ago. now, i only can appreciate him for what he once stood for. but, my god, he seems to stand up against booing crowds, ignorant crowds mind you, and defend individual liberties time and time again. what a courageous fellow.
I'll never understand why people want more whacked out, doped up people wandering the streets, committing crimes, driving, killing people, living on the sidewalks. Some world you perverted dopers want.
Stupid people get irate. Without fail. Ron Paul is such a legend. And close to 80 and looks younger than many people in their 50s. Here is a learned man who you can tell treats his body like a temple.
The difference between 1988 and 2022 is in 1988, this type of chaotic screaming mindless interaction was a spectacle of a short-lived absurd talk show, but in 2022, this same style dominates our mainstream news programs.
Yes indeed! Trump is SOOO bombastic! So unhinged! Holy crap. These Trump haters have NO idea what bombastic is. Hindsight is 20/20. The thought that we could have had Ron Paul as president back in 1988 kinda brings a tear to my eye. And drugs are the least reason why. Imagine what would have happened to the Fed and the size of government, the budget, wars, and government intervention had he been president! Had his ideas actually caught on!
Ron Paul was right the whole time about the drug wars. He said to the crowd how we support the drug dealer with these laws. The FDA approves oxycontin and the covid vaccines, but they didn't approve of marijuana. The men who founded this country smoked marijuana.
Just an ignorant statist zombie who has no clue what freedom is. That's why he was in Ron Paul's face because he is incapable of grasping the idea of individual liberty.
Morton Downey: "I will not step over boundaries and let the guests speak their minds" Also Morton Downey: "If I had you in the white house, I would vomit on you!"
Has Dr Paul ever discussed why he was on the show? Did they coach him to yell? Downey was the bridge between Donahue and Springer. I remember watching back in the 80's. A real circus.
The problem with Ron Paul is he comes across as wimpy guy. But I think we would be in better shape right now as a country if he would’ve been President.
Legalizing weed and small amounts of powdered cocaine (two most popular illicit substance) is a good idea but there needs to be an actual plan in place in how to regulate such substance but all said I don't think locking people up for possession of any substance was ever a good idea.
@@douche8980 the default 'd o nothing its bettter than bad policies' as first step works, then you modify it. Like the problem is the state banning it, blanket legalization of cocaine is beter than the status quo. You can edit the legalization later AFTER the shit isnt state-sanctioned.
I used to love watch Morton Downey Jr just for how ridiculously over the top he was. I usually couldn't last an entire episode, though. He always reminded me of Televangelist Ernest Angley who used to bilk people out of all of there money while curing people from his pulpit...OMG those two were so entertaining.
Morton and his herd of sheep are long gone and never to be remembered again. Meanwhile Ron Paul and his message is still alive and well. The truth always prevails
Right! Just look at the streets of places like San Francisco with all the drugged out derelicts all over the sidewalks passed out or committing crimes. How wonderful!
Thank you for uploading this, I was a huge grassroots endorser of Ron Paul in 2008 and 2012. It's so amazing to see he was always so honest and consistent throughout his life. This group of idiots should look back and be ashamed. Very happy with Trump now after reflection in my late 20s but awesome clip!!!
Ron didn't handle himself his best, but this entire crowd are clueless animals regurgitating the same lines. The irony of them chanting "Just say no" to someone arguing for freedom of choice shows that of all those 100 people they probably don't have 3 IQ points to rub together. They get upset that he calls out a big man for his diet choices and that's unacceptable by his reaction, but the host saying Paul's balls are shriveled up while being the only sensible person in a rowdy mob is okay lol
Amazing how every single speaker and audience member had such a fundamental misunderstanding of libertarianism. They all seemed to think libertarians just wanted to get rid of the laws so they could use drugs
@@Ditka-89 There are a ton of wackos in the Libertarian caucus, too. Just like every party. When someone asks me if I'm a Libertarian I reply with "That depends on whether or not you believe in age of consent laws." Get a vast array of responses that instantly tell you who's purely opposed to overbearing government intervention in their lives, and who's an animal wanting to be able to do whatever they want without repercussion.
@@benjaminp2776 I think there’s a difference between anarchists and libertarians. Most libertarians are fairly sensible about maintaining the laws which prevent actions that have zero utilitarian benefits (like consent laws)
Downey: We need government to stop drug usage in this country... *holds a legal drug in one hand throughout the segment* Following up with this, the drug ended his life short...
Five minutes in, and I'm like "What the hell, is that satire?" Because they're insulting each other in such a mean and petty manner that they have to be joking. Sadly, many Americans haven't changed in all these years.
the policy reform for ( all ) psychoactive drugs should be : decriminalization/legalization , taxation/regulation , education/rehabilitation -- rather than criminalization/incarceration . any other policy approach -- keeps the market in the hands of criminals and corrupt officials , increases health hazards by impure and inconsistent product and dosage , and hugely exacerbates territorial gang/mafia/cartel terrorism and violence .
It makes me chuckle near the end of this movie when Ron Paul starts clapping his finders like a bird beak and rolling his eyes whenever the annoying red lady says something stupid.
