Hello, Maria, Paul and Dee Dee. Love you guys....just a couple of corrections. 1) Marinara is feminine and it does NOT mean ' sailor boy', whose term is a marinaio. Marinaro is a fishmonger. And, marinara is a fishwife. ....or, the wife of a fisherman. She did the cooking....hence pasta alla marinara. The reason this particular sauce is called 'marinara' is because it originally used to be made as a fast food with fish. Through the decades, the fish has been eliminated and is only used optionally. 2) you must use the pure/proper Italian when using a term, not the regional dialect. The phrase is ' pasta e fagioli', not 'pasta e fasuli'. The word for beans in Italian is FAGIOLI, not fasuli ( that's not proper Italian). I guess none of you knows how to speak the true Italian tongue. It is sad, really, since dialects are practically defunct. No one in Italy speak dialects any longer, except for the old folk.
