Quite a lot of differences between those 2 FZs. The ignition systems are quite different (early bike has 2 crank pickups, later 1 crank pickup) and the coils not compatible (resistance quite different). Rear suspension different. Currently rebuilding my 1FN. Need to order a load of minor bits
Hey Man i have the 1989 FZX750 Yamaha with the same carburetor problem, someone put down my carburetor for cleaning and he was unable to fix it back as it was and that comes up with a different noise from the engine, that was not there before.
@@KillFactoryMoto any tips /advice for me? Basically everything youd said about yourself is relatable. It's my first bike, first big vehicle project, and more or less I'm working on nearly the exact same bike. What would you say I should start at? Any words of wisdom would be excellent. Thanks either way
@@Reblwitoutacause I'm definitely no professional. But I learned to start with the smallest easiest things first and work your way up. First make sure the bike has compression.. 'cause then you're more than likely to get the engine working. Then just start from the oil and go from there. Electrics are the hardest to diagnose. Especially on our bikes. So Just follow the battery. Make sure you get spark. Make sure you hear the fuel pump. If the bike's been sitting a long time you might have to take the fuel pump completely apart and get all the gunk out. Just basically expect to either replace or disassemble and clean nearly everything. hahaha. But you see... once you get the fuel moving then it leads to the carburetors..... so one thing always leads to the next. I hope that helps.
I just acquired a 1986 Yamaha Fazer 700 which is basically the same bike I bought it off Craigslist but I got to rebuild the carbs but otherwise for a 1986 out of 10 at least an eight and a half if not 9
