I owe you the biggest thank you and I'm sure my grandfather up in heaven would be appreciative as well as he specifically bought this machine for my grandmother to use.
Great job of using this Rainbow to clean up your house after you repair it. It seem to be clean better and much deeper power brush that can clean deep now to get all dirt dust out from the carpet. By watching your video here. Your repair service for this rainbow d4c is improved. So keep it up and work more with these canister Rainbow Vacuum and show us more in all Rainbow in every different video of each Rainbow Vacuums Cleaners Canisters.
Good video that brings back memories. Thanks for posting. We had Rainbow vacuums in my family since about 1977. The first one we got looked a lot like R2D2 from Star Wars. My mother sold Rainbows from about 77' to 79'. The one featured in your video here is basically like the second one we bought back in 82'. Those are really great vacuums. Good materials, like that chrome piece on the underside of the power head. We used that particular model from about 1982 until 1995. Most recently I purchased a new SRX system and will be able to compare it with the ones we had in our family from 77' until 95'. The Rainbow representative who sold me the new SRX system mentioned that if you still have any of the previous Rainbow systems that need parts, you can contact Rainbow/Rexair directly and they will make any part you need to repair your Rainbow vacuum.
Well, any canister can be but canisters are more versatile than most upright machines. The nice thing about Rainbows is you have options for longer hoses, for some models up to 30 ft. I currently have 14 ft versions of the basic and electric hoses for my E2 Black, and when cleaning my Mom's car I usually use these without as much issue as the 8 ft hose that comes with the machine.
Remember, the longer the hose, the lower the airflow. Since Rainbows have low airflow from the hose, attaching a 30 ft. one would dramatically lower the cleaning power.
I have actually read on Rain Vac I believe that the connection for the electric hose was a common problem for the D4C then they fixed it with the D4C SE. This machine as a whole was definitely screaming for help when I got it.
That runs great, I wonder how much it took getting used to with the brush roll on the PN that likely kept pulling itself forward? Thomas will sure enjoy it very much.
I absolutely positively love my rainbow SRX I have the newest model they have out but my Aunt Norma has that model you have she had her since 1970 she got hers and when she was living in Germany and it still works just as good as the day she bought it and she has to shampoo a piece with that piece you have to hook up to a faucet she has the old style rainbows now they're more moderate but they also have help with filters in them now which I don't understand why they have helped or filters on them now because the older models did not have helped a filters on on what if water is supposed to capture everything I don't understand why they need filters on them now but needless to say it cleans very well love it I use nothing but my rainbow but I have a question about carpet powder is that safe to use with these types of machines thank you you always the best videos thank you for educating us on different appliances especially the floor Care industry thank you have a great amazing New Year to you and your family
Nicely done, Bill! I love these machines (if you look through my other comments it's pretty obvious). They are fairly unique with the big 7" fans, the overall low tone sound and that 1980s brown decor. It's sad that parts are becoming scarce for them but Rexair makes one model at any given time, but the support for the D4 was pretty good, considering the age of it. It's better than what you may get with Miele or other Eurovacs and definitely better than with Shark. One thing comes to mind though with your restore, were you not able to get bearings with rubber seals?
Of course you do it the way you do for the video so you likely know this, but it's much easier to use canisters if you let them trail behind you. But yeah in tight spots they can be annoying.
