This is just a quick video of the Chassis and engine of my 1989 Volvo B10M with PMC Metro 90 bodywork.
For a 32 year old bus that served most of it’s life in Sydney NSW, The Chassis and running gear are in surprisingly good clean nick. Most of the dirt on it now is as a result of it being in Regional NSW driven on the odd dirt road to where it’s parked.
Engine: THD101GC
Transmission: ZF 4HP500
Kilometres at time of filming: 679,000km

I had to translate your comment, But to hopefully answer your question of when does a Volvo wear out. I’m not sure but at the time of writing this comment, The current odometer reading is 1,679,181km yes 1.6 Million kilometres. My Volvo B10M is fitted with a THD101GC 9.6 litre inline 6 cylinder turbo diesel putting out 245hp and around 900N-m torque at 1400rpm, Coupled to a ZF 4HP500 4 speed Automatic gearbox. I think the Mercedes OM355 is a 10.8 litre, But have to look more into it. So if in deed it’s smaller it’d only be by around 1.2 litres total.

@@TheAussieBusman actually he asked about the fuel consumption of your Volvo

@@DanielEismann Blame Google Translate for that one, As all I can do is go off is what it translates to English without knowing the original language. In this instance Google translate claims it was Portuguese, Hence the response and how easy it is to have it lost in translation. But as for fuel economy the THD101GC 9.6 litre 6 Cylinder Turbo diesel in it pending on how and where it’s driven gets 25L/100km to 60L/100km, Me personally having it in a Regional Rural Area where for the bulk part it’s doing 60 - 100kph with the odd splattering of 50kph and no stop start traffic I’ve averaged around 30L/100km and get just over 1000km from the 300 Litre fuel tank.

It has a ZF 4HP500 fitted, Which is a 4 speed Auto originally fitted way back in 1989. Some buses in the old Transdev fleet were lucky to receive the ZF 5 or 5 speed auto as an upgrade rather then the original ZF 4HP’s being rebuilt when they were due or needed work. As cost wise doing the upgrade worked out at a similar price to the rebuild plus labour, Which also meant the bus was off the road for say a day and put back into service with a better drive train. Rather then pulling out a gearbox having it rebuilt and putting it back in which could take upwards of a week which is a lot of downtime for a bus in regular service.

*English translation * Similar platform yes, The B10M is the succesor to the B58 in terms of model line up.
