Who knew that television commercials would be the key to nostalgia. Even when you watch the old movies they don't capture the real essence of the past like television commercials do because the commercials actually show what it was like to live back then. Showed what we ate and what life was like. And when I watch it reminds me of some of the things I had
@@TwoBs Preach!!!!!!!!!! The kids have no idea about memorable commercials. Its a lost art now. They see ads on RU-vid but those don't do justice. Nothing will ever beat good commercials before between and after your favorite show.
The thing I miss the most about commercials from back then were the lack of drug commercials. You didn't have to hear the phrase, "Talk to your doctor about prescription..." I had no idea back then how nice it was until now. I'm glad I don't watch TV today anymore.
And then in a few months to a few years you have the "have you or anyone in your family taken *_fill_in_the_blanks_* and suffered from back spasms, heart palpation explosions, eye fractures, or even end of life, if so then you MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR COMPENSATION FOR *fill in bs blah blah*." I hate watching TV now. Isn't it ironic that we long and watch commercials that are put on here because we can't stand commercials today, that's where we are literally at. 😂
@@ghkillah1995 Yes, I forgot how good commercials used to be. They were humorous at times, effective, actually sold products, and a lot of them had those awesome jingles.
@@dorseykindler9544- I was born in 1976. The Television commercials, TV shows, movies, & lack of the internet made life a whole lot better. My favorite 80's TV show was Knight Rider, Game Show - Press Your Luck,. The days where Kmart & Sears ruled, & Wal-Mart Drools, Montgomery Ward, RadioShack, & Mervyn's were alive. We loved driving Pontiac Excitement, & our father's Oldsmobile. Forget Calgon, just take me away back to a simpler place in time!😥 Hello from Phoenix Arizona!🔥
I don’t know if there is a term for it but I long for nostalgia and I wish we could be transported to different dates and experience it as it was. These commercials bring a touch of that and remind me of better times.
I loved the Mini Wheat commercials with the adult turning into a kid. I feel old because I didn’t realize that it was that old. But I do still love those frosted mini wheats. When it sucks up all the milk yummy 😋
‘89....rolling covert at night in my friend’s Mercedes she ‘borrowed’ from her brother, who only got to use it when he was home from school....nobody was old enuff to legally drive but hey, open that moon roof, let ur giant hair blow, and cruise w the radio up🥰 Nobody caused any drama or went to jail...just taking a late night cruise-and dropping me at home b4 my parents knew I was gone😂 Now there’d be a frikkin Amber Alert and the car would deactivate itself😂 The world has ^not^ improved with tech and helicopter parents.
It was because of a report that it lowered cholesterol. EVERYONE was jumping on the oatmeal bandwagon at that time- I believe it was also around that same time that eggs were suddenly bad for you, because they raised cholesterol.
I fondly recall these commercials in Denver, Colorado in 1988 and '89. The west and midwest was rife with them... The lighting, showcase, theatrics, music and entertainment were warmer back then than nowadays. I wish I could return to that bygone era. So heartfelt and nostalgic!
Big Macs are gone too, now they are Mcdouble patties with extra large buns and prepackaged lettuce and sauce. Nothing is freshly made anymore. If you want real disgust, look up the vintage taco bell commercials. It makes me so sad to see where they are now. I'll never eat at one of those places ever again, nor a McDonald's
I could smack me lol For me, my dad had plenty of tapes from the 80s with commercials on them. I would watch those in the late 90s and 2000s all the damn time lol I was doing this before youtube.

I see that Frosted Mini Wheats commercial again. I see they even had “bite size” back then. The “bite size” is what we have to settle for nowadays. Such a shame. And it seems Frosted Mini Wheats had more frosting on them back then, too. Hehehe, at 2:51 the little boy says “coo-pawn”, older man says “q-pawn”. Yeah, it’s like tow-may-toe, tow-mah-tow situation lol
8:48 every major radio market had a "smooth jazz" station in the late 80s, and this Honda music would have fit right in. "This is Maria von Dickersohn on CD one-oh-one point nine." ;)
I kept seeing everybody talking about Don the Con's commercial at the end, and all I saw was a commercial for Prep H getting rid of hemorrhoids, and I figured he was the hemorrhoid. Then I realized I wasn't to the end of the video yet. My bad.

1989 was a bad year starting in March. Later I spent 4 months in the jail of the Caribbean island I was on, getting out the day Hurricane Hugo hit as a cat 5 with over 200mph winds. Go for 3 months without electricity and jury-rigged water supplies hording what pitiful little you can get. I left the island after helping it somewhat recover in Jan 1990 after growing up there.
The California Raisins commercials are great! It was a fad! The Jeffy Pop commercial is nice! I can't remember the last time I ate Jeffy Pop! That Donald Trump commercial! Great commercials! Thanks Dave!
I just can't believe they actually expected post popping, near molten plastic casing to be opened with their bare hands, I think I remember people complaining about that, getting burned by that much more often than any other brand's pre packaged popcorn packet, at least Orville had the courtesy to take the same idea, protect peoples hands with the paper, and make the opening action the top of the back and leaves your hands much more clear and able to avoid the worst of the post popping heat
