And should be a similar setup for that year model but the part might like ok different. I would do some more research on that particular year and body style truck
This video helped me out a lot! Also a thankyou to M.Plante for telling why this happens! If I had to bring this truck to electrical guy,I would pay dearly!!!
Yea it’s normally due to age of the connector or too much load on the circuit, mine failed due to cracking over time and they connection was arcing out.
And you are very much welcome this is why I made videos like this I have stopped right now because of everything I’ve had going on but I’m trying to get a welding trailer together again go back to doing mobile welding and making videos
Is this connectors being burnt out a likely cause for battery drain when headlights on? It os like the alternator is not connected to the battery when the lights are on. Something is killing the battery when the headlights are on. Alternator is working fine. Might have a belt issue. Maybe a bit loose but seems tight. So i guess belt is tight. Idk just cant figure what is killing my battery when i am driving with the lights on
@constancegreiner906 more than likely the alternator isn’t producing enough voltage with the lights on and engine running to keep the batteries charged
This is only half the job, the reason why the headlight switch and connector are melted is due to the headlights drawing too much current thru the switch and melting it and causing a potential fire,. What you need to do is to relay the headlight Hi and Lo beams to the battery to take the load off the switch thus protecting the switch and wiring. if you want further info just reply. one bricknoser to another.
M Plante I got a question u bought a 90 model today and the ignition in the column is boogered up so I attempted a push button starter and idk wth happened but now I have no lights of any kind in the truck and all fuses are good
Thank you very much, my light switch is worn out! My dome lights won't dim. When I turn on my headlights my taillights and license plate lights go out! When I put my parking lights are on the license plates lights com on, but go off when I turn on the headlights! Anyway going to replace the headlight switch is worn out on my 90 Bronco 2 probably bad contacts, all well! Thanks for video 👍
Glad I could help tbh I don’t use that truck anymore because of all the issues I ran into with it! I still have the truck but it got to be too much of the rig being down more than it was on the road
I had this same problem on my '88 f150, even had the same plug burn up, replaced the headlight switch as well as the connection it plugs into, after i finished, my headlights work but the headlight switch gets very hot, anyone know what this could be?
having a similar issue. when I pull the headlight switch the front beams come on but no dash or taillights. if I push the switch in slowly and find the sweet spot, I can get all lights to stay on. takes a little bit but its annoying. I have replaced the switch already and didn't see any obvious trouble with the harness. Do you have any other ideas? one guy said it was the high beam switch, but I dont think so.
You might need to try replacing the heals light switch connector like I did, mine was cracked internally which caused the switch to catch fire. If the switch connector is failing it can cause the same symptoms as a bad switch and can affect the high low switch too
I have a 89 ranger that keeps popping fuse only when I turn on my headlights. If I switch the fuse I can run it no problem till I turn on my headlights. Can it be the switch? I already replaced all the bulbs.
Hi. I'm having the same issue. Mine was burn out so I had to hot wire so the headlights and running lights can come on and now I'm putting in a brand new switch and wire connector. After everything is hook up, my headlights still not working. I match all the colors. Can someone help. Asap.
Glad I could help! I’m fixing to start working on there old girl again already started on some of it and filming it too so I should have more videos up soon
