Since 96, I have owned driven 7 different Accords, from an 88 to a 2016 model. The 93 was by far the best built, the fit and finish was superb. This vintage of the Accord elevated the model to near luxury.
I purchased a '90 Accord EX Sedan with a manual transmission in December of 1989. Mine was green with light colored interior. I thought I was so cool when I drove that car.
It was bragging rights. In addition, a V6 is a lot quieter than a four, it just sounds more refined and luxurious. Who would have foreseen that for 2018, Honda would ditch the V6 in favor of a 2.0 liter turbo charged four . I bought this car new April 1990, drove it for 10 years to 180,000 miles. Sold it to the kid who pumped the gas in my car. He was going to college. He drove it another 200,000 miles. It was still running when it got totaled. A drunk driver plowed into it while it was parked.
What's funny is my dad was a honda mechanic during this Era. He worked just down the street from a Toyota dealership where his buddy worked. They actually met on the streets one day while they were out on test drives. My dad in a 92 Accord EX and his buddy in a Toyota Camry V6. Stopped at a light, just for fun they punched it and my dad was pulling ahead crazily. They both got back to the dealership and his buddy asked what kind of V6 the accord had. He about crapped his pants when my dad told him honda didn't have V6 Accords.... Yet! 😂
I have an H22 from my Prelude I had in college, My Goal is to find a Clean 92-93 or 94-97 5Spd Manual EX Preferably EX-L 4Dr and swap My H22 in and just give it a Resto Mod with modern features like Apple CarPlay, All LEDs, Mirrors with LED turn signals & Newer Honda Wheels
This is the best Gen. Preferably 92-93. They should’ve came with the H23 DOHC from The Prelude of the time as an option at least which was more powerful than any V6 of the time.
2017 update- Love my '91 EX-R Coupe loaded w/ 208k .. except one thing- 9.4-10.7 l/100km is nothing good by today's standards. 64L tank and it starts complaining for more gas by 550km - about $80 in Vancouver BC prices. I've been spoiled by Civic at 6.7-8.1 l/100 and the step up in refinement just isnt worth it- bought a 2006 Ford escape 2.3L 5-speed for better mileage if you can believe that. You can tell the old automatic technology saps power and swigs fuel- being stuck in 2nd and 3rd gear for much of the driving experience.
I can't believe they recommended a Corsica as an alternative. Even new they looked way outdated and just bland. I can understand comparing the Camry but those Corsicas were just cheap GM products, all the way.
