1989 promotional video of the new Lincoln Town Car. My dad had a 1985 Town Car and received this as a VHS tape from a local dealer in El Cajon, CA. (They sent the tape 3rd class mail!)
This generation Town Car was without any doubt among the most reliable and well built US cars ever. This Promo makes me laugh though... Try selling a car in Europe only telling the potential customer that this car gives You prestige, it´s quiet and comfy, got "V8 power" and has ABS brakes (Without telling You what it´s good for)..... Body on frame is not a safety feature in my world.... Also love those for safety matters, non functional headrests (Got them in my -93 Crown Vic as well).
Go to 3:04 They're not kidding. Haha. I have a '92 and its so awesome. People look at my car and they're like "Ehh... cool car...", but then they sit down and go for a ride and instantly say, "THIS IS THE BEST CAR EVER!". It is so comfortable.
First new car I ever bought. My mother in law now drives it. Silver Cartier it still has less than 80,000 miles 27 years later. She drives it to the country club every Saturday without fail. She also refuses to get a new car as she says nothing new looks as classy as this one.
These lincolns I give them alot of respect I'm about to buy a another 95 Town Car Cartier series this going to be my 6th lincoln I don't care 1980-2011 lincolns soft riding lURUXY cars and trucks
I love Town Cars , had newer ones , but my 1990 is my baby always garaged , my 1994 is my daily driver . American big body 👍 I couldn't drive anything else .
@3rdgen4runnerguru And to think after DECADES of being in a pissing contest with the Cadillac Fleetwood, it outlasted it by 15 years too (the Fleetwood's final year was 1996; the Town Car, 2011)!
power window nylon gears go out, making windows inoperable. Its only a $8 part and if they have never been replaced, prepare to replace them soon. I did all 4 on my 1990 TC
"Its 5.0 liter V8 engine and 4-speed automatic transmission deliver performance to match Lincoln's style" I couldn't help laughing at that ...150 hp mated to 4000 lbs of car = dismal performance. I had an '89 with the same powertrain. The OHC 4.6L in '91onward was a much needed improvement.
@@jaydlightning2015 Performance was ok for the time, but keep in mind by 1990 the lighter Deville was putting out 180hp from a 4.5L, and Fleetwood Brougham with optional 5.7 had about 180hp as well.
I have always admired Lincoln not so much Cadillac but Lincoln is where it's at and I finally got one a 94 you don't really see people talking about 94s or 90s anymore why is that
I had my 1990 town car for 3 years. I had to replace all the seals and gaskets on the engine, the power steering pump, radiator, emission system and rear springs. now it runs like a dream and sound like a truck LOL
My Dad has a 1990 Cartier Lincoln town car! Still looks good! Its has 86, thousand miles and drives great! He got it from an auction with 66, thousand miles.
I can't help but laugh at this commercial it's so corny especially the narrator. Those lincolns are the freakin shiznit but whenever I see them the rear air suspension is always blown out.
Thought about getting a '97 Town Car a few years ago. would have if it were black or that deep emerald green, but i'm not a big fan of the gray on gray, especially in the 2020s when everything is so colorless already. So i went and got a series of brightly colored Cadillacs instead.
Steve Marroquin It fills the gap between your neck and bottom of head. It’s better than nothing but not as safe as a full headrest. It’s probably mainly because people didn’t want rediclous headrests that were big. But nowdays we know they are there to protect us.
Modern car headrests are safer, but annoying and uncomfortable. Your head is always touching them and forces your head forward in nerd posture. People compensate by tilting the seats way too far back. Safety is great but at what cost?
My grandfather drives a '94 Executive Series Town Car, he has 172k miles on it and he's had it since new. He's getting ready for a bit of a newer town car but it's a comfortable car for sure (:
@jerzeebook just wondered how you were making out with this one. The early 4.6's could be a little problematic. I think they were pretty much debugged by 97. But, nonetheless, I think you wil still be enjoying the 4.6. I kept good premium oils in the 94 i had, comparable mileage. It ran out nice, gives you a little more kick in the tail than the 5.0 because of the DOHC wizardry. I now own a 90 with the 5.0 engine.
@JakeDaSnakeFilms I have one... :) and it is one sweet old car!! It has more insulation than the oldre cars and drives quieter, handles real nice, feels much newer with that old reliable 302 EFI that just keeps going and going.
To hell with these haters i own a 2001& 1995 Towncar both Signature Series. The best car i've ever owned next to a 2003 Sable LS i just brought from a estate sale. Towncars are more famous than most of these high-end mercedes & bmws
I had a 1975 Town Coupe, nice car, but no brakes... So bought a 1975 Cadillac Sedan de Ville. Unfortunately, blew the engine racing a Road Runner. Oh, well this 1988, so they were plentiful back then... Now, I'd baby them.
i have a 93 town car it has 198,143 miles and its completly stock and i take it to the drag strip and for what it is it does a 13 second lap its a monster and still my everyday driver
this commercial is a shining example of how narrow minded and sexist car commercials were at the time...I know this car was designed for a certain buyer....but come on, golfers, senior citizens, and of course, no women behind the wheel. Women belong in the passengers seat checking their makeup.
You just showed me you are a STUPID ASS HOLE . I am a women . I have driven Lincolns since I was 21 . My husband and I own 8 Lincolns . We have a 2018 Navigator have driven them since their introduction . My daily driver is a 1996 Lincoln TOWN CAR . The car is still a DREAM to drive . . Now we also own 2 FERRARI's they are Beautiful but a real pain to own and drive . The most joy I get in a FERRARI is on the expressway with very little traffic . As for the LINCOLNS they are always a JOY TO own and Drive . We have a collection of 15 cars total . BUY A LINCOLN ,OLD or NEW . Sincerely MRS. M
Terrence Gold Well you could go with Asian and European cars too. They are all heavy laden with electronics and they can be hacked into and controlled by outside sources
