I believe so I went a while without driving an old one, keep bitching on how bad the roads were than I drove the 82 mark vi and I was like you know what I don’t think it’s the roads are getting worse I think it’s our car’s suspension are getting to damn sensitive just like people nowadays I guess lol thanks again for watching. Hope you come back for more.
I just bought a 82 clean straight no dents no rust man it brings back good childhood memories. What a ride give me steel and V8 power any day you can keep plastic and fuel efficient 4 cylinder. I have always found it strange when people where smaller cars where bigger no it's the opposite.
My mother use to have a white 1988 Lincoln Town car .we had to trade it in because of transmission gave out it was the signature series we bought a smaller car a 2002 chavy cavilet
These Lincoln Town cars are not reliable on fuel and gas the Lincoln Town cars are drink up a lot of gas and the Lincoln Town cars aren't popular back in 1980s and 1990s and 2000s the Lincoln Town cars are outdate SUV'S are taking place of the Lincoln Town cars a lot of need need 4 by 4
How long does it take to install the fuel injection system for these Lincoln Town cars when they were new back in the day can a do it yourselfer install the fuel injection statement if it needed replaced
I miss the 80s iwas alwys attracted to these cars even in my early 20s then ,,just couldn't afford one /also likethe crown vics and mercury grand marquis coupes and sedans ,,sorry I just don't get that excited over these radical new cars and styles today and cheaper quality these days //miss the 302 motor and aod trans //
Right about this. Too much information - what for ? I know when I need to gas up, the "E "means enough . And I don't care about my rectal temperature in centigrade and Fahrenheit
@@copperhammer I worked fine in my 1936 Oldsmobile, easy catalogue reading, lights to see, automobile front lights to see outside, gorgeous gorgeous interior colors an' design, rich wheels that glided across with an easy turning system, sure it wasn't 1970's smooth and clean, but surely Margaret could still put on her mascara at a calm 50 miles per hour.
@@WitchKing-Of-Angmar A statement came down the road, a piece of well-proportioned design in sheet metal. These days, it is a piece of conveyance designed by accountants .
@@copperhammer indeed, I now look at a car how I used to look at a microwave with digital lights on it. Except the car has more crap on it than the microwave did, pointless appliance accessory.
Your 1980 to 1989 town car as well your signature of the same years was as reliable and easy to work on as a 1960s car and their 302 CIDS had no faults and were engines that you could trust. I have owned two myself. The hoods on these and front fenders were longer than your 1959 cadillac
We use too. Have a 1988 singature series Lincoln Town it was white we .had to trade it in because it was tampered with .and someone caused the transmission on the Town car to burnt the transmission out
My mother drives a 2017 Nissan rogue instead of a 1988 Lincoln Town car the Nissan rogue holds more luggage space the the Lincoln Town car the town car has less luggage space my mother's 2017 Nissan rogue has more technology than the Lincoln Town car.the Lincoln Town car has no luggage rack and no luggage space and no xm radio and CD player and it has an/FM radio and a cassette tape player that likes to chew the music cassette tapes and get the music cassette tapes stuck and stuck and stucker
Your brain in comparing these two types of cars needs a overall this car can crush your mom's 2019 iron any truck or car in your mom's class. The Lincoln Town car was the only car in its class that is a pleasure to drive you need help get off the drugs your on and compare your momies car to a Toyota rav 4 or a Lexus Rx 350. Then take some volume and call your doctor moron.
i had one of these in gold when i lived in florida 13 years ago. had to laugh at 4:06 he took the words out of my mouth... ha ha so true. great car with a real shitty gas mileage, an American tradition. god bless america, i miss u x
@@hankdivezzio2849 he is saying it's a boat of a car, although funnilly enough it's no where near the size of the 1970's automobiles. Specifically 1970-1975.
Or maybe I will be on the waiting list when one of the customers of the new 1982 Lincoln trades in that 5 year old 1977 Lincoln. To get that used 1977 Lincoln even with 11 MPG.
The commercial is highly outdated, but you can't deny the old Panther cars are really reliable and the 302 Windsor V8 is awesome when pumped up. I have an '89 Crown Victoria.
It's a shame the 302 could only make 130 hp from 1980 to 1983 and the CFI injection system was a pain and held these engines back. We used to get these in all the time with drive-ability and stalling issues. Still this was a safer bet than what Cadillac was offering for 1982 with the underpowered and unreliable 4100 V8!
This is the type of car that I need as well as a lot of people for a bug out car, because during and emp a 95 and up car will die on you and not start, this Lincoln on the other hand might have fuel injection but it's still carburetor and a lack of engine computer and electronics, so this car would start and run during an EMP and be a perfect bug out car. I'm going to get one next week.
What on earth are you talking about? This is ELECTRONIC fuel injection, and if a vehicle has ELECTRONIC fuel injection it DOES NOT have a carburetor and DOES have an engine computer. While most vehicles from the late 70's and early 80's didn't have electronic engine control, Town Car did. 1980 through 1985 used Ford's 3rd generation electronic engine control system, or EEC-III. 1986 through the 90's and into the 2000's used the fourth generation electronic engine control system, or EEC-IV with small upgrades and changes year to year.
I like vehicles with 4×4 and newer and modern made for country people like that loves to dress outdoorsie type that likes to wear jeans and t-shirts and cowboy boots
At 11:10 I just noticed passenger side mirrors were not standard, surprised this was the case for a Lincoln Town Car. LOL, it even has opera lamps and cornering lamps, but they couldn't bother with a passenger side rearview mirror?
These early Town Cars and Coupes with the sharp edge front fenders and vertical tail lights were great. Whoever rounded those front fenders and put the trunk lid and tail lights on a slant screwed up the beautiful formal design.
I love the 1980-1989 Town Car. But I agree, I liked the 1980-1984 better than the 1985-1989. 1984 was my favorite year, the made vinyl rood line like the 1980-1983 Mark VI as well as the 1980-1983 Mark VI seat design.
I rather buy a vehicle in the year 2019 instead of 1980 2019 vehicle lasts a lot longer a 1980 vehicle lasts over 4 year after 4 years the 1970 or 1980 vehicle craps out then you start trading in the problem vehicle into the dealership you drive out with the newer vehicle
86 and up actually had SEFI(not much different from a 2016), Idle air control valves , and the 88 should have a datastream with a good reader. However, Those systems were very new then with lots of bugs as they age. The problems could be very simple like a bad vacuum hose (air leak) or solenoid, but you really have to be good in electronics to find it. It is not amateur stuff, most mechanics are not qualified to troubleshoot. Replacing random parts may not help either. The rolling idle is likely a a vac leak somewhere. You can't own these today without being an expert in how they work. I could almost say the same for new cars too, most techs really have no clue, except how to say, "that will be $800, sir." 85 had 2 fuel injectors into a throttle body, totally different animal. It was the bastard child of a carb and fuel injection. Don't even want to go there.
A drop of contact spray did it for me. As you know after 30 years, you want to replace all lines & hoses, fluids & filters. I also found a leaking EGR gasket, clogged idle control valve and some pesky vacuum leaks. Had zero stalls or rough idles after a bit of TLC... Lubricating hinges, suspension, blower motor, parking brake release, windows, locks, anything that moves. Rustproofing, waxing.. preventive maintenance in general. My car will outlive me :)
8 track and cassette players player's plays better than the CD plays not so good cassettes and 8 tracks in the next few years are making a comeback 2029
The Lincoln Town cars from the 1980s have a lot better body styles the 1990s and 2000s the Lincoln Town cars have a piss poor body style and the Lincoln Town cars back in the 1980s are last longer the Lincoln Town cars from 1990s and 2000s are junk
