TLDR: It appears to have been a crack in a fuel hose introducing too much air to the mixture. Just FYI while it had the leak, I also did a seafoam shock as suggested in other videos, it got rid of a lot of sludge.
Didnt make another video sorry, but it is fixed now. One of these 2 things was the problem. Have a feeling the cracked hose was it, the carb wasnt even really dirty.
Thank you. My 30hp mercury is doing the exact same thing. I think I'm going to replace all the fuel lines and filters from the gas tank on to be on the safe side. Mine gets to half throttle power and that's it; even when I go to full throttle, there's no change at all.
I have the same problem. It ran very good for 2 minutes and the motor drop power and started shaking. I have to check all the hoses. I bought new fuel pump, cleaned the carb and new fuel filter. Thanks for the video.
Yeah definitely check all of the hoses, sounds exactly like what I had going on. Bend them at all the areas where they connect. That's how I found my leak.
I am having the same problem with a 94 evinrude 25 teerc. Will run good for 5 minutes or so then spudder very bad. (Only on the lake runs good in a barrel)
My 87 johnson 150 v6 does the same thing once i hit 45 mph. Ill def check it out. Might also explain why every now and then i see a little gas slick. Got a leak some where
I have seemingly the exact same issue. Everyone says same thing but I’ve check hoses and everything many times. I have one old fuel line that I have not replaced and it’s hard and looks exactly like yours in the pic. I will replace it today and see. I have also cleaned carb twice with no luck
It is also common, Ive found out, that your engine could be bogging down due to one of the cylinders not getting spark. However, if its the exact same issue. Air is getting introduced somewhere? Maybe soak and rebuild the carb? Change fuel filter? Inspect the insides of all your lines they have a plastic lining that could have collapsed. Also, I havnt dealt with one before but the intake behind the carb also has to do with air flow, could be something wrong with one of the reeds. Good luck bud, leme know if you get it figured it out.
@@TheBluceRee so that’s what I was thinking (spark ) but with your video and some friends all saying fuel… I did what you said… I replaced the one file line I hadn’t replaced yet and bought new fuel tank… so far she’s running awesome (in the yard) taking it to the lake tonight to make sure. Thanks so much for the video.
Tengo un problema similar , el motor tarda en prender , pero una ves encendido se mantiene bien , y cuando pongo en marcha acia adentro todo va bien , asta que empiezo acelerar se apaga y cuando no se apaga realmente no corre a más de 7 mph
It was but not as much as youd think, and when i opened it... i was not knowledgable about this stuff. I figured from a 1990s motor it just had oil and shit build up over time.
At that point in the fuel system the pump is sucking, so it doesn't leak when running and would only leak a little bit and then stop when the engine was stopped. So it makes sense.
I was having the identical issue a month ago. I replaced the spark plugs and cleaned the fuel line/fresh mixed fuel. Now I can’t start it even with carb cleaner! What the heck’s the issue!?
Did you clean the actual carb itself? Like do a dip? I also had a problem with this boat that eventually ended up being the piece that tells the spark plugs when to fire was going bad(cant remember the name of the part) It ran like this because it was on one cylinder the eventually quit starting at all.
@@TheBluceRee hi thanks for the response. Yeah I’m sure now that it’s my carb. I’ll be pulling it completely apart soon. And I believe the part you referred to is the cdi
That sounds more like a carburetor issue. I would try to run some sea foam through it and maybe some carb cleaner as well. I had a very similar issue with my 60 hp 82 Johnson sea horse, it took a good long while to get it clean but now it idles and runs full blast great.
Yes, the stuff is pretty cheap. Just go to any auto store with a piece of hose off your motor. Get a few feet of it and replace everything. Espeically if its old, if youve been researching im sure you know the inside jacket can collapse causing the same effect as this. So even if its not cracked, could still be that. The tubing is relatively cheap...
There was, but it's a 90... it had gas / oil in the bottom when i bought it lol. This was my first real mechanical adventure as an adult that wasnt a car.
I do not recall, but if you are having problems at lower rpms, I am currently having the same issue. Turns out in the drive way if I revved it up I could start it and keep it running for a while. If I lowered the RPM in the driveway it died. If I put it in drive in the driveway it worked fine, if i put it in drive in the water it died instantly. Turns out I have one cylinder not getting spark. Hope this helps.
@@TheBluceRee thank you for reply I believe my issue is fuel starve or I also found a line with a crack I replaced, headed out to lake this afternoon to see if any improvement,, thanks again.
Same problem with my 90 HP johnson. I'm going to go through all the fuel lines also I don't use ethanol pissed down fuel. Is there anything good about ethanol?
