My late father and I were in the infield at this race. I remember climbing through a hole in the fence after the race to celebrate with Schrader with my #25 Kodiak gear on. Best day ever. Little did I know this would be his last Cup victory ☹️
No matter what he drove I enjoyed watching Kenny race. He almost won more with Hendrick but something would always happen to him with a few laps to go in those events. Regardless of what he did or didn't win he will always be known for being involved in the crash with Dale Earnhardt in Daytona 2001.
Shockingly, Kenny Schrader's last win. Sad that he couldn't win a few more..I know he had some more wins in him. He just needed the luck, kinda like Ryan Blaney now.
3:38 = Ken Schrader = Nice Guy, Very Capable driver, drove in NASCAR forever, the big problem is he was in Tim Richmond's Shadow. He could drive the car well and get it home in the top 20 most of the time.. If his luck held out that is...
Although I like jimmie johnson, adam petty, and max angelelli, kenny schrader is still my favorite driver. Even though he has less wins for hendrick motorsports.
more like top 5, top 10 most of the time... either that or something went bad, should of won more, he had some of the worst luck. still would consistently finish in top 5 or top 10 in points up till late the '90s
Actually, I do (sort of). From what I've read, ABC packed up and left on Sunday (after the race was red-flagged for rain) and didn't come back to televise the rest of the race when it resumed on Monday. Therefore, the only known footage from the race is the first 50+ laps that were run on Sunday (which I have). I have 60 other races already in line to be published, so it'll be a little while before I get to the Motorcraft 500, but eventually, I *will* lol
@@DupontandLowesWarrior JD went through so much in his final few years. I could sit and talk about it for hours. He was a true racer, and an accident as simple as this is like Norm Benning wrecking - it has a tough effect and a huge setback associated with it. You could even hear mike joy’s dismay at 1:59:50 - even he recognized the struggle JD had
Thought it was Bristol for a second when he said that, then I saw the speed and was like "this is Dover". I think the Bristol night race was named the "Bud 500" for a few years back in the late 80s, early 90s.
