That's exactly my car now! I recently used it in a gag in one of my videos, too, because one of my best friends has a black ED7, so we made it look like I had changed the colour of his car. Hahahaha. Nothing is as analogue and beautifully direct, as the experience of driving an EF car. God's own chariot.
Normally, I see an LHT notification, I jump on it ASAP. But, when I see an LHT upload about an old school Honda, I have to be careful not to crack the screen on my phone when I'm smashing the hell out of the like button.
My gosh thank you sir for this kind of content! Hope you get more of these classic legendary kind of cars aswell.... The "never forget to look back" kind of content much love from canada! Cant wait for the pt.2❣️❣️❣️
I've had a couple of Honda hatchbacks with swapped engines. The '91 Si hatchback was my favorite of all of them. Same color. Mine had 'automatic' motorized seatbelts that would move out of the way, down the top of the door, towards the door mirrors. You could just leave the lap seatbelt 'snapped in' near the emergency brake all the time, if you wanted. I guess this kept the door panels from being damaged. Anybody who has never driven a 88-91 hatchback or CRX should make a point of doing it. Manual transmission is a must. The perfect gokart for driving to work or cruising around, at up to 40+ MPG depending on how you drive. Currently, I have a '90 Si hatchback with a D15 swapped, for maximum fuel economy. It's still fun to drive, but obviously a B18 would be far more fun. This era of Hondas were masterpieces of design.
As a Fox Body guy I'd just like to recognize the import community for getting over ridiculous body kits and going back to clean restomod style builds. This car looks incredible.
Thanks to John and Gorge for the Dedication made by each car of each independent client, that intrusion and Dedication in each job gives us the confidence to take our car to their workshop No matter how far we are, keep your Quality work a hug from a Distance Brian from Texas
“Quickest” feeling car I’ve ever driven. Definitely not the fastest. Way back in the 90’s. Was a heavily modified CRX si. Thing felt like a go cart. It was an absolute ripper. Not sure if it had an engine swap (probably not). But, it definitely had suspension work and it had no power steering. This car is going to be an absolute blast to drive after you guys are done with it. Beautiful work and subscribed.
Mmm... CRX’s remind me of my teenage years lol. I had a red 1990 CRX Si that I had bought off my sister & I absolutely loved it. It had upgrades like intake, headers, a computer chip, full exhaust, Eibach springs (coil overs were way to expensive back then) & that thing could skidaddle! That was way before “Fast & Furious” brought street racing to the masses so the race scene wasn’t nearly as large as it is today. I ended up crashing my CRX & I bought a VW Scirocco. Crashed that car & got a VR6 Corrado (LOVED that car!). Crashed that car & I decided that speed wasn’t my thing so I bought a truck instead hahaha! Ahhh... the good ‘ol days lol!
I can't believe you can do (figure out and build) all this custom work. Ball park, how much does it cost to save a 1990's - 2000 CRX? It is a dream come true.
Give the header a ceramic coating, so it won't heat-up the oilpan that much😇 Nice work, love it😎 😳Question; would the Honda HRC turbo-kit for the CR-Z fit on the Fit, do You have any experience withbthat kit?🤓💨💨💨💨💨💨
My god this is exactly like MY crx. I have the exact same setup in my 91 celestial blue pearl resto-mod DX/ Si clone. Right down to the SPAL a/c fan. Only thing I'm missing is those LHT engine mounts. And yes, I cringed you mentioned the fuel pump. I'm coming to you guys when I'm ready for a turbo
You live in Europe for 5yrs. You come back to The U.S. and go what is this dumb ass system?!?! Oh no wonder The U.S. is collapsing in on itself I mean their form of measurement is a clue. LOL Nice build love to see a CRX getting some deserved attention and respect. Yeah when you said Kilograms as a form of distance it made me scratch my head. LOL
I just picked up a 91’ Si myself. Bone stock and in great condition but has the stock engine. How quick will this new build make the CRX ? is it possible to find out what a ballpark job like this would cost ? Thanks 🙏🏽
There are things here that I did differently when I did the same swap recently. That traction bar will cause problems for the owner down the road. So will that "cable to hydro" bracket (why not just get a 92-93 GSR transmission and add LSD?). Also, the engine is angled the way it is with other mount kits for a reason (ground and radius rod clearance). I don't think any of those 3 things will withstand the test of time even though they look good for the video.
30:24 Matsushita! The big ol' fat one. Sandens are the more common ones and they're great :) What's not so great is non R12 refrigerant. Wish it wasn't so bad so we wouldn't have to deal with the retrofitting mumbo jumbo.
I had this bookmarked, thought I'd link it. It's a guy who 3D prints some out of production pieces for CRX and other Honda's of the same era: 3dprinted.bigcartel.com/category/honda-crx I would argue the most iconic wing/body kit was the Mugen one and the many copies of it! I appreciate how you guys clean up some of the terrible hoses and joint/hump hose. Even when I lived this era I could never understand why guys would do something like paint a valve cover nicely to make it a focal point. Then proceed to replace black hoses with red and blue spaghetti all over.
wish i could post pics on here. i have a 91 crx si with 170,000mi its black with 17" voxx racing gun metal 6 spoke wheels and smoked headlights . DC header magnaflow cat and pacesetter exhaust. skunk2 coilovers, upper and lower control arms. and neuspeed strut brace. literally just put a clutch in it today. other than that it stock and in just as good of condition as this one is. ive had it for 17yrs got it with 74k its never seen a winter road. such a fun car to drive
Got 2 Civic ED7 and a CRX ED9, all of them with the D16A9 engine (DOHC 130hp). CRXs in Europe do have back seats they're rated as 4 seaters, so I'm surprised that this one doesn't have back seat but a sound system...
The car was maybe hit and the sub mount didn't fit so then you measured from where? to get the tape lines straight? I'm surprised George didn't stop the video and make sure everything was alright and square with Pythagorean Theorem. "a2 + b2 = c2 Yep it's out of square!"
Omfg my first honda 1990 crx si and my dad an I put a b16a in it. Then I went and drop a b18cR with phearable.net ecu. That joker was fast as hell.lol sold it and now I'm looking for another one..
I had 91 Civic Si exact same color swapped with ZC engine and lowered springs. It was my first and fun car until some mexicans came and stole it outside my house. Impound called me saying I have to pay the daily fees and have to go to court for the tickets accumulated parked illegally on the streets. When I finally got to see my car in the impound, everything was stripped and sprayed black with some walmart paint.
@LHTPerformance i had this exact same setup way back in the day. CRX with a B18C and the very first version of the Full-Race traction bar. Not sure if you knew this but are you aware of how the crank pulley can rub against the traction bars adjustable rods (the gold one) and wear a notch into it? i dont know if FR has made revisions to their design that eliminate or lessen the chances of that happening. Its been so long so i dont remember 100% what factors cause it or make it worse. I think certain mount kits like if they have the engine sitting lower in the bay. I dont remember if the car being lowered too much might cause it. I had Ground Control coilovers but i wasn't lowered at all i had like a two finger gap. One thing i do remember that lessens the chances of the pulley rubbing on that rod is if you install a CTR/B16B N1 style crank pulley. You've probably heard of it and know the downsides to using it on a daily driver.
You guys are cool, really like your work and it feels like I've known you for a long time, familiar vibe. I'm a Honda fanatic and that CRX is just astonishing, finished product just impecable.
Not surprised traction bar didn’t fit. I’ve had a couple full-race traction bars over the years, great fitment, good quality welds, got the bar quickly. Last traction bar ordered from full-race took forever to get. Welds were poor quality and the traction bar was nowhere close to fitting on the car. Not sure what’s going on at full-race.
I love CRXes! Good old days! No unnecessary eletronics! Just a plain driver car! This CRX is well- kept by the owner! We don't see any good example of CRXes anymore!
Memory serves me correct there was a gentleman right here in North Carolina that had that exact same year and I believe the exact same motor it had 1,000,000 miles on it and I believe Lumberton Honda gave him a brand new 2015 Honda Civic he all the maintenance on the crx done at the dealership
Love it man! You had me at B18C5.... Ain't nothing like a ITR swap! Especially with the factory helical LSD. Add in a Spoon ECU if you can find one, 9800 redline! WOW!!!
Makes me miss my crx was the very first car I ever wanted and purchased. Thinking about picking another one up but it's so hard to find a nice clean stock one.
