In this video I give a full in depth tour of a 1991 Dodge Ram 350 Passenger Van. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this van while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this van designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

I have the same van converted by Sportsmobile. You’re absolutely right. 148,000 and I haven’t had a single engine problem. It’s a TANK.

I've always favorite this generation of the Dodge Ram Van. He's right, you don't see too many passenger versions of this van anymore. It's too bad this one is in rough shape and I'm pretty sure it was taken to the junkyard long before now.

My old neighbor has a lot of kids so they had one of these that they drove around on a daily basis, it was in much better condition, I'm pretty sure it was a '91 like this one, but it was actually pretty unique.

I literally just bought one of these. Same year. Paid 2200 for it and it's in near perfect condition considering it's almost 30 years old.

I have one identical in blue that's a 1990 with 78k miles, but with nicer factory wheels(hubcaps) and electric windows. I love it!

The Ram Vans are one of the coolest looking passenger vans alongside the Ford E Series, Ford Transit, the Ram Promaster, the Express/Savana, the Astro/Safari, and the the GMC/Chevrolet fans that preceded the Express vans.

When dad changed the spark plugs or air filter we would drive the van around with no engine cover just to make sure all was in working order and sounded right. You could see the road down trough the engine bay. Always fun. RIP Dad.

@LordKevin92 The engine is not usually exposed, since it's illegal to have something like that. The engine cover was removed for some reason. You can see the engine cover in between the two front seats.

Sounds great and runs good too. Looks like it's burning a little oil though. 158,000 miles and still running great. This is when engines were made to last. Not like today's with all electronics and crap.

My godmother had a van similar to this, it was approximately an '83 or '84...will ask next time I see her. It was blue with a blue interior. Nice older van. So great video as always Kyle and thanks for a trip in the wayback machine!

My grandpa has the same van except its the smaller version its not as long, its blue with silver stripes, it has the original rims, and the interior is still intact, plus its garage kept, Ill show you a photo one day.

Sort of. This is a Ram Van wagon. The Possum Van was just a Ram Van. The wagon version had rows of rear seats the Ram Van had one or two rows of rear seats. The Possum Van had no rear seats unless Red put them in!

Not exactly. I drove one of these for a long time and they run better than you think. The next year they got the Magnum engines and performed even better. In the course of my job I used a '91, 3-'92's and a '94.

Type body vans GMC Vandura 1971-1996. Chevrolet Van 1971-1996. Ford Econoline 1975-1991. Dodge Ram Van 1971-1997. But Dodge Ram Van change a little bit mostly doors for 1998-2003. But type of old school vans were discontinued after the 2003 model year because after 1997 for Dodge, Dodge Ram Van begin to run out of time. So vans like that are from 1971-2003.

@Michael3752 A van like this is very practical for my needs (hauling people/heavy materials and equipment). This van would make someone a great work van as is, or with a good detailing/cleaning and some paint, a presentable people hauler. surely you can respect that. And BTW, American van engines were in the cab for over 50 years, in almost all vans produced by the Big Three. Noise/heat was never a problem. :)

MY GOD this is a good example of how they can't sell dodges in my country regardless of them trying. You see vans of this era with that many miles that are so clean you could eat off the carpet with NEARLY EVERYTHING WORKING still. Not covers off, majorly torn seats, and looking like they're ready for the crusher. Most car yards here would NEVER HAVE this stuff. It would not even get to the wreckers for parts. Just straight in the crusher.

How is that exposed engine safe? You got passengers in there and can possibly smell the fumes.

In a full size van, the engine housing, also called the “dog house has that thick insulated cover. When you put it back over the engine, it has a lip and clamps down very tight. The moulding overlaps a bit. Have had several vans, never smelled fumes from the engine. Leave it open as long as he did, that’d be a different story. That engine cover is only to be removed for the same reasons you’d open the hood to your car. Maintenance access only.

I use to have one of those as a work truck it had no seats in the back just space and I was doing renovations and could pack the van full of stuff and it loved it one time I packed the thing full of brand new rolls of carpet right to the ceiling it was a lot of weight but the van did now care and the heat in that thing in the winter was deadly the thing would pump out crazy hot air it had the 360 TBI and it was a great van better then a pickup truck by far

@vigilante11485 Not when the cover is in place. Remember that front-steering trucks also have the engine partly in the drivers compartment, and it doesn't get especially hot in there.

Yeah, it's not just like that in old Dodge vans, it was like that it most conversion vans or passenger vans in the 70s 80s and 90s, that big thing sitting between the 2 front seats was the engine cover.
