Thanks for the update. You said your idle didn't stay set.. did you check the ics to see if all the coils measured the correct impedance? Could be a faculty ics. Also, I'm putting back together a 91 talon after 12 years of it being in storage. I'm trying to remember the routing of the firewall/engine harness. There is a spot where it splits off right before the cruise box on the firewall.. can you tell if the small loom faces down right after the resistor pack or near/under/after the cruise box? I'm just having trouble figuring out the routing and your car is so stock I thought maybe you could help with quick peek. If not, no big deal. Thanks for the vid and I look forward to the next one.
Hey Jeff! Thanks for the suggestion. I have not checked it but I will look into that. Still finding my way around a multimeter so that is good practice. The idle seems to vary, I'm not sure i've spent enough time around the car running to know for sure what it is but at the gas station it was higher. As far as your question about the harness, I don't have the car near me at the moment and won't for a few days so i'm not sure i'll be of much help. Thanks for the support!
I know how slowly it can go ,I'm building a compounded 2gb talon tsi automatic .. (57k miles, mint condition). ..it's not just expensive ,but ALOT OF WORK.
Interesting. Haven't heard of doing it that way. Was your crank pulley off? My Talon doesn't have the dowel and that really messed me up when I timed it before the dyno.
@@Al3xTalon everything was mechanically dead nuts on. This way it gives you true cam timing. This is the way my tuner told me to make sure your at true 5*
There could be a few problems failing idle control motor . The adjustment screw o ring also leaks 9 times out of 10 . Eliminate all those vac lines on your tb when u get the time all the emission stuff is garbage and you will be much happier afterword ?!!!!
I plan on doing so! Many things to go to make this the car I would like it to be. I will be checking out the ISC to see how it tests out. Need to delete those lines on the tb like you said too that might be the cause.
New to the channel. Hoping you get kinks worked out on this thing! I have a 91 talon tsi that's auto that I daily but it's no where near as clean as this one (paint quality is the same though). You should definitely be able to tell if OD is on because at 65mph I'm well over 3k rpm with it off. And as for not starting in first gear after stopping, I can't tell how long you're stopped but mine only does it if I'm stopped for less than maybe 4 seconds. Not exactly an OG to DSM but if you ever need something to reference I can try to help!
Welcome! I definitely will but it’s the first auto car I’ve ever really diagnosed a trans issue on so it’s taking some time. The car shifts up fine but doesn’t seem to downshift at all unless I put it in 2
@@Al3xTalon huh, quick search said some people had issues because of tps or idle switch but at least for me when my tps was way out of adjustment and when i let off throttle and rpms went down it gave a check engine light and noticeable misfire feel. I'm guessing you already checked all the hoses and wires going to the trans. I know Jaffro talked about pulling codes for the trans if you haven't already done that.
@@Sparcsmi Pulling codes is the next thing I have to do. I've checked everything else. Also no CEL and car runs much better after the timing light and setting the idle.

Can someone please tell me how exactly I should ground the connector pin under the dash? Where does the other end of the wire go to in order to have it grounded?
@@Al3xTalon Hi, I've read the VFAQ link about the BISS adjustment, but what it says about this is "Use an alligator clip wire on this terminal, clip the other end to ground". It doesn't say how exactly you can ground it and where to connect the other end of the wire. On your video I can't really tell, it seems like it goes under the seat or next to it.
Anyone knows why my car revs in neutral but only when the car is coasting ? Or lets say when you press The clutch down and then it starts surging and stops after it revs at 1500 rpm and goes down to 1000? Its really wierd..
@@Al3xTalon my car had a bunch of vacuum leaks. I fixed them.. the old own had the biss all the way screwed in. So now that the leaks are fixed my idle is a little funky. I don't drive the car much and I think that is part of my problem.
