This generation Lexus ES300 came with a five speed manual as well. I really love that combo because it is comfortable and can be sporty. Also, this car was so reliable and I still see owners with this car.
In defense to the other commentator, i think the ES especially this generation is well differentiated with the Camry it's based on compared to the previous generation. Unlike the 1st gen Infiniti i30 where you could swap doors, windshields and some interior pieces with the Maxima. Virtually no part except for the mechanicals, can be interchanged with this ES and equivalent Camry.
i've owned both camry and Es300 of the same era, the Camry is a good all round passenger car. Smooth to drive, well put together, and handsome in and out. Understeer galore though. This car is not a canyon carver by any means. Thats where the Accord or Altima shines The ES is a few inches wider and the suspension setup is more Jaaagish if you will, for a "Camry" that is.... & that's saying alot! It comes with the better engine in the chassis range. Compared to the 4 cylinder 2.2L the V6 is a RAM of torque bursting through the front wheels. Even though the ES and Camry share mechanical components and some styling cues. The ES doesn't feel like a fully loaded Camry. Its doing it in a Tom Ford tailored tux and performs like a triathlete. If the Camry is Spiderman the ES is Spiderman infected with the Venom symbiote.
The bald dude needs some glasses lol, the 3rd gen camry and 2nd gen ES don't look alike at all. He even said they have the same wheel base which they don't. The ES is longer and wider than the camry. The ES300 is a sports sedan and you cannot swap anything cosmetic between the camry and the ES. The only thing the camry got over the ES is rear legroom and headroom. Weirdly enough even being longer and wider, the ES is a bit cramped in the back whereas the camry can sit 3 comfortably in the back. All in all they are both great cars which proved their quality and are still seen all over the road. I have a 92 ES300 with factory 5 speed and I will never let her go. She only got 156k miles and no issues at all. Made in an era when car manufacturers were making cars to last a lifetime unlike today's cars which barely makes it till their warranty ends and no character. Take me back to the good ol days.
@@91myroc nope that’s wrong, hoods, fenders , doors, mirrors and bumpers cannot be swapped between the two. I know cuz i have tried and it’s well known in the camry and Lexus group. Thats the cosmetic body parts im referring to…they are only mechanically interchangeable.
