I was there at this performance and I can tell you that SCV was brimming with such overwhelming confidence that night that in my opinion had not been seen since the 89 Championship. Once Gail Royer announces the show to the audience it was breathtaking -You can hear it in their playing - the term “on top of the beat” can definitely be applied here. Every note was ringing!!!Exciting doesn’t even begin to describe how the corps was playing and how everyone in the audience that night felt when they played their first note to the last note of the famed “Bottle Dance “They were on fire ! Listen to this performance and then to Finals -Sadly the confidence had eroded by Finals and though exciting the show had worn thin -it was a tough season of so many changes -but at least on this Concord Pavilion performance -their first public performance of Fiddler -Santa Clara believed they were on their way to another World Championship. Thank you for posting this very historic performance.
@@StephenKershaw1 I love those SCV years too. For me it’s apples and oranges in terms of contrasting style and approach when comparing SCV and BD during those years. That said another era of SCV superiority is of course, 2016-19
