I dont mean to be offtopic but does any of you know of a method to get back into an Instagram account?? I somehow forgot the account password. I would love any tips you can give me.
I don't think so. There's video footage of Langer playing in the 1997 Masters, which is four years after this. Haven't seen Chip Beck lately though, so you may be right about him.
Ha, amazing Langer never received a slow play warning or penalty. It’s no big deal to play ready golf, even as a pro. Especially if your partner is hitting first. Basic etiquette you are taught first time you play.
Bernhard Langer... What a wonderful to say "On the day of the resurrection of my lord and saviour" AND then a quick cut-off to regular programming . Classic main stream media... No green jacket for you !!!
"On the left we have Eisenhower's tree, and over there we have the Ross Perot tree. It's over on the right and bothers a lot of people." 😁 I know McCord has made a mistake or two, but that was pretty funny to me right there.
This was the beginning of a very interesting run of final rounds for Greg Norman. Over the next 4 "final" rounds at the Masters 93, 94, 95, 96, Norman will shoot 12 over. 77, 77, 68, 78.
Chip Beck said afterwards, when you have a wedge in your hands, it’s a great opportunity to make a birdie. Trouble is - Langer also had that same opportunity. Beck needed to try for eagle here.
Langer played with a Wood Bros. "Texan" Persimmon(wooden) driver, the finest hand-made driving instrument ever made. They are still mythical clubs, and (in Japan) treated with the same reverence as Samurai swords.
Dan Forsman was the only name I didn't recognise on the front page of the leaderboard but when I saw how he played 12 I understood why. Don't think he contended again in a major after that.
I read they put black dye in the water to give it that glass look. The flyover of the 12th in the first couple minutes of the video, the water is brown but looks black during the tournament.
No - Langer was only three ahead at that point, he wasn't "crushing the field". By laying-up, Beck took all the pressure off Langer. He had to try and make eagle, or at least fly the green and make a birdie from the back edge more likely. It's not a criticism of Beck's personality; it's just that laying-up at this point couldn't possibly be justified.
I don't fault him at all. The way Langer was playing, protect 2nd place ($$) by parring in. If I pick up a birdie, fine, but no chances for a big number, and be there if Langer falters.
Incredible how slow those greens are compared to today's standards. The shot Beck hit into 14 would have rolled 20 fee more to the right. As a PGA Professional that is why the average score hasn't changed still in 30 years because hitting the golf ball is easier, but chipping it and putting it are more difficult as greens speeds are pushing 10 plus on most courses.
The greens were unusually slow in ‘93 because of rain. They’d been lightning fast in ‘87 and ‘88 and drew a lot of criticism in those years for being too quick.
I was a junior golfer between 1991-1997. I lived and breathed golf back then. Absolutely loved the BBC Sport coverage of the Masters (and all the other European Tour Events back in the 90's). Remember watching the Masters with my little portable TV and enduring the rain/storm/thunder/lightening delays! Looking back on it - I think the 90's were a golden era of players, courses and coverage. Not the same these days...in my opinion atleast
@@francis1971 I did once upon a time. I had 100's of hours of BBC Sport Golf coverage that I recorded on VHS tape - including the Masters. One of my biggest regrets is that I eventually moved away from golf and the old VHS tapes got repurposed for other things. This was way before RU-vid ever existed or people could convert VHS to DVD :(
The big blonde dude who is Colin Montgomerie’s doppelgänger and who always wears a red shirt, changed his shirt this year. It’s uncanny how he always gets camera time on the 10th and 14th holes. I wonder if he pushed his way to the front every year, or he was so well-known that people just made way for him?
Same thing with the blonde lady who gets the best seat on 16 for as long as I can remember. She is front row every year, and in every camera shot. She must have people who make sure nobody else is allowed to sit there.
Chip Beck sealed up any chance he had of winning by showing absolutely zero courage on the second shot at the par 5 15th. That's a Tin Cup situation right there, accept he didn't have the guts to go for it. He's down 3 badly needing an eagle and he laid up.
Pretty obvious that Jim Nantz and Pat Summerall we’re going out their way to pronounce his name correctly, when Gary McCord clearly was trying to be cleverly tongue in cheek by saying “Bernie” over and over. And then when he said, weekend at Bernie’s--priceless. The subtle undercurrent was hilarious, I thought pretty obvious.
Lot of admirable things about Arnie to copy but Arnie really wasn't a closer. Probably not the best role model for decision making under pressure to win tournaments.
@@carloslugo4526 He was second 10 or 11 times which is why I said it. As far as 62, he racked up a lot low quality wins in the 50s playing against club pros in. His last major win was in 1964. Arnie was great and I don't want to discount that too much but I wouldn't put him in the top ten of all time. He was probably an Ernie Els type player. Maybe top 15.
Isn't it wonderful and not at all partisan when the American commentators are critical of Langer for taking his time but when it's an American it's 'Dan has finally made up his mind, it's absolutely critical that when you have to make a decision you take your time.' Seriously!!! Do you not realise that the billions of other people on the planet are here and can see and hear what you do?????? Make's me sick!!!
30 years later Bernard Langer is still boring the world with his weekly golf for no reason on the Champions Tour, while his wife Vicky stays home and wonders why she wasted her life with this guy. Between Bernard Langer and Ernie Els, who is the winner for the one who likes their wife the least? All they do is travel and play golf, while the wives raise the kids and live alone.
It’s stupid that he got kicked out. He’s on TV. No effect on the players, the tournament, the stuffed shirts. It’s not as if he filtered through the crowd loudly talking about bikini wax and body bags. It’s just a TV show, irrelevant and non-impactful.
if he had been some straight-laced schmuck he never would have won two majors in the first place. He was what he was and he got exactly what he deserved out of his talent.
He won TWO majors despite all that drinking, gambling and womanizing. Lots of great golfers only won a single major and some champions never won any. Loads of golfers would have loved to have had John's career.
