Lee Smith was the all time save leader when he retired, later passed by Mariano Rivera. And you put an awesome card in the junk pile, Mike Piazza rookie card.

the quality of these cards was so high. even if they came out today people would be impressed. They are like Prizm but from 1993.... Only adults could afford them in 1993.

I wonder if anyone doing a 1993 Finest box opening ended up with a missing Jumbo All-Star. Because I remember reading in the Beckett at the time that one could open the shrinkwrap, take out the Jumbo All-Star and re-shrinkwrap it. I know it's the Refractors that get all the attention but the Jumbo All-Stars are quite the limited edition too! There's only ~1455 of each!

Bro, this is the best series on you tube! Pack pulling Griffey's?!?! I can't get enough of these videos. Card design from early 90s to about 2000 were the best ever, and the inserts?! Forget about it.

Tough product. Opened 6 boxes back in the day. Put together 2 sets which are still under valued. Mike Messina was the best refractor I purchased a psa 9 for nine hundred of Jr. Sold it at seventeen hundred. Thought I did good 😢 today I do own a psa authentic auto of the kids regular issue. I got some old excitement watching the box get Opened 😊

This is a great series! Love seeing these older cards and chasing the KID! I remember seeing these cards but I believe Basketball started this product of Finest and when it came out was huge! Because everyone was trying to get the Jordans! Missed out on it because it was really expensive at the time. I think in 93 I was buying the Upper Deck and hoping to get Derek Jeter. I remember going to a show in a mall that my dad and I went to and picked a full 1993 Sp Box! I opened it and put the entire SP set together! For years I had that set until one day when I had a storage unit broken into and that set was stolen.

Good stuff!! Sic Griffey!! Imagine being able to rip a whole hobby box of this back in the day. Cool to see that each green parallel was a star of the day. Would have been a dope product for kids to rip that could only afford a pack or two. Thanks for sharing!! Let’s go!!👊

I just sold a box of this not long ago. Wanted to open it sooo bad, but just couldn't bring myself to given the price. This was THE set when I was a kid, well, I mean the first super high dollar set. I was only able to open a pack or two because of the price......Hey, at Lee Smith is a HOFer. That might surprise you! Some of those go for crazy prices, even for lesser players. The one thing about this set that holds it back, maybe the only thing, is that there aren't any big Rookies in it.

Lee Smith, that's the name Betty White spelled on SNL when she answered the door and said her name was Blalfagnar Blalfagnar "Spelled L-e-e S-m-i-t-h" and also one of the few All Star cards that went on to the HOF (lot of PED associations, though I think Clemens was clean; Alomar made the HOF which is amusing at this point that he's in and others are out.)

Lee Smith, hall of fame closer for multiple teams, rookie card in 1981 products. Not a great refractor by any stretch, but think of it this way, at least it wasn't someone like Bob Tewksberry. At the very least you got a good player.

Still loving this series, another excellent choice for the Griffey chase (and other HOF'ers)... I agree with the box topper sentiment, I'm actually not a huge box topper fan, but this one and probably any one from this product would be my favorite all time for box toppers, and this Clemens was especially very very cool. Thanks for sharing again man!

93 finest is kind of a junk wax miracle. It was super expensive in 93. Still expensive in 2000, 2010 and remains a super expensive box today. What other junk wax era product can say that? Other than 92 Bowman, I can't think of one.

Why are you using asking price vs sold price for your value calculations?
@StrykerBreaks
@StrykerBreaks 3 года назад
Just because something sold yesterday for a certain price doesn't mean that it is the same price today. Cards go up and down in value regularly so the low ask is the lowest price you can get it for currently. At one time a Mike trout rookie wasn't worth much. Imagine if you just went by the sold price to determine what it's worth, then nothing would ever increase in value.
@AtomicZombieAndroid
@AtomicZombieAndroid 3 года назад
@@StrykerBreaks Prices don't go up significantly by one transaction, its a gradual process that takes several completed transactions to determine an average market value. If supply is very low and you only have sellers willing to let the card go for 3x market price does that make the market price 3x even if no one is willing to pay that price?
