I love how there’s nothing creepy about this. So many of these “older builds” are intentional to try to be scary. I would like to see what they thought an older model looked like without all of the forced creepiness
Many people say that is something creepy about Mario 64 (I was 14 years old in 1996 so maybe you have to be a kid to perceive the creepiness) But why you say that this beta is not creepy? It have all the elements like the liminal spaces, the loneliness, so why is not creepy?
I love the cozy vibe in this video and the castle just looks so much better here. Also the ground pound sound sounds like a sound effect from the Toy Story 3 video game if I am remembering correctly.
This is some great work. It’s interesting to see a vision of an even earlier version of the game in all it’s weird testing oddities. The texture work and geometry looks legit. Only critique is the long jump wasn’t added in space world 1995 build (or we at least never saw it) so it probably wouldn’t be here. Some other minor movements weren’t like the final like the skid animation being more exaggerated. If that one beta restoration mod was public I’d recommend using that as a base. These subtleties can really sell the illusion sometimes. But over all pretty great work. Honestly. I hope you end up doing more hacks.
1994??? I'm sure they didn't have so much rooms in the castle + the title screen wasn't even implemented + the model for the animations to work was made in 1995? + it had the debug mode enabled + there was a level select + there was no castle + there were only test levels + there was no idea of caps + the pause screen was different, + Mario didn't have an advanced moveset?
for a game that's development started in 1994 in this build of a game I expect mario only to be able to move and and jump but nothing else and the castle will just have few doors there will be no music or title screen and the camere will be very basic, mario also probably would just be a shape or a very different character model than the one today. you got there being no ui correct though
i felt like this too, the mario character seems way too finished to be in a 1994 state, i'd expect different texture or lower quality for mario as well as more dynamic animations like the one where he lands from the backflip to not be present, and instead just have mario t pose or just those actions to not exist at all. The door textures also seem too complete and i'd expect more like placeholder ones, but the ground texture was good too in the castle and the name 'ultra64' was a great touch too
Wow, what a wonderful beta, it was far superior to the final game, as it had HD resolution and ran on the latest version of the Unity Engine released in 2023!
The vhs effect is way too much. I had movies i watched hundreds of times on vhs tapes and they never looked that bad. Not only that, the film is supposed to be so messed up that there's tons of visual artifacts but the audio is flawless?
@@MBY610 i thought a 2005 bulid, it should have luigi wario waluigi yoshi, and colored yoshis with multiplayer about 6 players 50 new courses, with lots of extensions of the castle like hallways, mazes and a church where you will see the NEW wet dry world and a fighting stage! *i dont want you to make that because it would be impossible, also this will be the 2005 bulid since it has a lot of content
You see, before everything sucked and was only made for guaranteed profit off of gullible chuds who never think before buying the same game over and over, the people who make games used to care and take their time and actually finish games before they were released.
this is honestly really great, typically last year (or 2 idk) people will try to force creepiness onto these types of videos, but this video just shows like a concept of what it would've looked in the late 1994 build, and it's great, the human noises in the background, the HUD being gone, and missing textures and sound effects, this is probably what it technically looked like, good job
This concept is honestly way more unnerving compared to the other creepypasta stuff. There's just something so "wrong" about the idea of Mario 64 existing so far back in recognizable form.
my only issue with this is for the date, it seems way too complete like most of the castle exterior is very similar to the actual game, mario has all of his moves functional and his model is fully complete, as well as the wingcap stage looking halfway done.
@RandomDankChannel pretty sure it isnt, nintendo showed off later builds of sm64 and this isnt one that is known to actually have existed (and didnt), so no it isnt.
I don't believe it's from 1994 because the Name Ultra 64 is allready on the Titlescreen and it looks like this Game is almost done. The only Difference is the Castle Design. But c'mon, Nintendo takes never 2 Years to redesigned the Castle.
@@olds86307 it took an year to release the beta than for the 1996 build it took the same 1995 build but improved everything. Including Mario's CRAZY AND HIGH PITCHED voice to a normal voice of Mario.
