with many other once cheap classics shooting up in value, I expect the early and last 928's to do the same. spotted a GTS auto for sale in Thailand where I'm moving to, v tempting ..!

I have worked/serviced five or so in Oregon. Manual gearbox for THESE cars is the only way to go!!!

Hp at 340ish is accurate, on 94 octane. No way it's 400. Lots of useable torque. I was geared for speed and economy, you need to drop it into 1st to get raucous.

I had a hard time choosing between the 928GTS and a Turbo Esprit. I went with an Esprit but I still want to own one of these at some point also. They're amazing cars, and its a shame that Porsche stopped making them just because they got too good and it was annoying the 911 fanatics.

An 87 manual shift s4. I would have kept it if I hadn't had a financial setback. Had a lot of fun with it. I'll get another some day, unless I win a lottery or inherit money and can afford the new version of the 928 due in a few years.

Wow, what a completely nonsensical comment. The 928 is beautiful from every angle, and has one of the sexiest rear ends ever on a car. Classic lines, obviously to subtle for some who most likely need something that SCREAMS......... LOOK AT ME!!!!!!

This WAS considered a supercar during its production. It was every bit as fast as the 911 Turbo of the same era, and this with a higher weight and no forced induction. It was also a highline car, so it was built with much more luxury-focus and attention to detail than most cars of the period (including its siblings, the 911 and the 924/944/968).

only 20% of the 928's had manual transmissions, so it is very rare to find a manual.

Something like 85% of 928's had a Mercedes Benz-sourced automatic transmission. A GTS like this one with a manual transmission is a RARE BIRD, and it would command a much higher price as a result.

Actually that is the way the family pronounces it. It is their name. Mustang is not someones name and saying stang instead of mustang is not the same. When you go to the dealership that is the way it is pronounced. No big deal, just mentioned that is not the way the people named porsche do not say Porsch.

@KonFusedKid23 It's a shame that this 928 is a slushbox. The back seats in the 928 were for legless midgets and were likely put there for insurance purposes. Porsche should have offers an option to remove the seats and the attendant accessories and replace that space with storage nets for a briefcase or bag.

Thats just my opinion. Its not a terrible car, I would definitely drive one, its just not really that special, although I gotta admit it does have some nice curves and lines.

@danglethrow Blame it on the 928's high $100K price tag which in 94 could buy a BMW 850CSI & the Japanese Sport Cars, Mostly the Supra Turbo which is the (Japanese Porsche 928).
