This video has reached legend status in the 928 world. That 1980 Euro S spec bronze car is my favorite of the bunch featured in this video. Awesome collection. The pure design on the early cars is the spec for me but I do like the early S rear spoiler and 4.7 much improved engine. 5 speed is a must too so my search for the right one may take a while.
Awesome discussion on the 928. Here's a fascinating look at a pure 928 enthusiast The 928 Midnight Rider ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_am8DPam0gc.html
I must say that this video was done REALLY well. I loved all the detailed information the owner gave, he spoke clearly, didn't repeat himself and gave a great overview of a fantastic overlooked collector car - 928. I really wish there were more of this type of video out there ... average guys with collections, no swearing, lots of information ... thank you!

So great to finally see a Porsche collection which is NOT focussed on 911s. With the 928s my personal favourites are the later models withe the more structured, balanced (as opposed to rounded) looks such as the 928GTS (which is now quite an expensive collector's item finally!), but all 928s are worth preserving. Well done!
I love the Porsche 928 ! As a kid in 8th grade I was fortunate to get a ride in a prototype and I have been an enthusiast ever since. The 928 was so ahead of it's time in so many ways when introduced and I hope to have another. Great collection !
As a lover of 928 model Porsches since my childhood, it was really great to see such a well directed video. I agree 100% with other viewers in that the owner was fantastic about the level of detail and expert knowledge; not only about the cars in general but about specs of specific years, models, color combinations, etc. it was a great learning experience. As someone looking to purchase and restore a 928, it's invaluable gaining all this knowledge of the models and years. Thanks very much for it.
Cool collection needs later GTS models and a storage unit to house those he’s not working on so he can have some room to move around and maybe work on two at a time to completion. Would like to see these completed and running.
The orange 928 you refer to , just happened to be at Porsche in Cape Town , South Africa when I went to get parts for my '85 S2 Euro and I got to give it a once over....it is very clean and everything is original from Paint to wheels.
I have an 82' 928 5 speed that I absolutely love. Bought it on the cheap and it's a bit rough interior wise. Unfortunately fuel pump quit and it's been sitting since. Can't wait to get her back on the road again. Love the timeless design
What a nice collection, I wish I had more time, space and money. More money basically... But I'm sorry to correct you: there's one more continental orange 928 in the world - mine ;-) It is #1090, born october 1st, 1977 and just 80k kilometers on the clock. It was first delivered to Switzerland (where it still is, I bought it five years ago). Everything is still original, just the interior (Pascha black & white) got a refit recently. Unfortunately the previous owner had the stupid idea to paint it black, but it will be back in orange soon (it still is under the bonnet and in the trunk)... Please keep us updated with your projects! Best wishes from Switzerland Kai
Kai - I only meant that mine was the only known Continental Orange - Black/Blue Pascha car known..I actually know there are several continental orange '78's out there - one in South Africa (Black Leather interior), one other in in states (Black leather as well). I have the only documented Black/Blue Pascha Orange car, and I believe yours may be the only black/white Pascha car! Hard to tell, but just know there aren't many out there! Would love to see pics of yours or follow the restoration. I am vanD on rennlist.com
I grew up with these cars and the 944 turbo. Love them both. They have a very soothing sporty sound. Nothing like American cars which were loud and obnoxious.
One of my all time favorites. I live in the same town as this collection and I have never seen any of them. Would love to get a tour. That orange one is so cool.
I had a 1978 black on black 928. It was pure with clean lines all around without all the attached plastic. The naturally aspirated V8 combined with the 5 speed were incredible. Quirky? Yes, but it was my first Porsche and without prior Porsche experience and preconceived biases or expectations I accepted the car for exactly what it was, a grand tourer, and absolutely loved it. I had several different Porsches through the years and this remains my favorite. My current ride is an LC 500, one of the last of the naturally aspirated V8's in a GT or any other car for that matter.
Ahhhhhh, such a beautiful collection! The 928 is my favorite car, I had a 1986.5 for 8 years, 8 wonderful years. Now I'm envious, of your cars, so very nicely done!
Still driving my '88 928S4 five-speed,it's got white leather, carpet and white paint as well. It's a very reliable car,the only repair I've ever done to it was a clutch replacement(if you can call that a repair).Very fast and fun car to drive, great for long trips,I've taken it cross country so many times I forget sometimes just how many
These car are beautiful and very advanced for there time ,I don't get time to drive my one .Its jet black with a black interior and with all that glass around you it can get very hot in my one .thank you for showing us your 928.
I would love to see more videos of this collection. The orange 928 looks great, a pity the interior is not filmed. Very nice owner who will certainly know a lot about 928's having 16 cars.
In a parallel universe where Ricky Martin started a 928 collection. They are amazing cars, very well designed in my opinion never get old, just a timeless unique shape.
As mentioned, only on early 87s. Often linked to a piston cooling feature - oil squirters - discontinued at about the same time. I discovered my flip-up spoiler by accident.

I have a 1980 928 5 speed sunroof delete car in cashmere beige with tobacco brown interior. It runs and drives as new. 928's have been known to run over 600K miles and counting as the motors simply don't wear out. From the factory, Porsche infused the cylinder liners with silicone crystals and they were the first to perfect this process with Reynolds aluminum. Get a 928 while you still can at a reasonable price..especially the 5 speed 78, 79, or 80. Those are the collector cars.
Beautiful collection of the 928. These are only going up in value. Check out BAT (Bring a trailer). A 1987 928 s4 with 36k-miles sold for over $100,000.00 there. Will you be my friend and let me drive all of your cars? Thank you. Nicely done video. Enjoy, and thank you for sharing.
Just bought 2 928 (1979) both manual. One actually looks orange. Paint is deteriorated. Favorite video on RU-vid. This collection is $$$. I remsmber 20 years ago everyone was scrapping these and selling them for cheap. Not so much anymore.....
Great video thanks, what a collection. How do I get a hold of this gentleman? I have a 928 and would be great to get more information, does he have a website?
Don't forget that GM actually BEAT Porsche to the punch in a mid engine car with the introduction of it's Corvair. I have two 928s, a 1977 5 speed, dk fire engine red, and a 1986 Automatic, med. red. I am restoring both and I adore the overall design and especially the controversial rear end! Best of luck with your collection!
Holy Cow,,,I'm inspired!!,,,I have an 88 Red s4 That I'm restoring and every time I take her out traffic slows down ,,,lol,,,,truly love it,,, , Any pointers greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Efrem.
I picked up a low mileage 87 , 924s, . Needs some brakes and a going over. Interior has the usual stitching on the seats which came loose. Hoping to restore..
Hey, my father passed away this time last year. He has always owned a Porsche 928 from 1981 and it's been a lot of work keeping it on the road. I was hoping we could get in touch and help keep this car alive

very very nice, Magnus Walker is snatching up 924 Turbos by the handful. It is believed that he has 12 of them currently. I bet Magnus Walker would love to check out this guy's collection, he's also looking for 928 early models 70's, with no rear spoilers. if that tells you anything find yourself a clean one and hang on to it for at least five years see what the market does. I'm hanging on to my 88 924S Special Edition, only 500 for the U.S. in 1988, less than half are believed to still exist and very few in excellent condition and not destroyed by boy racer type guys, or rotting away in someone's backyard or a junkyard, and 87 924S in pristine condition. Been going up in value last 3 years, quietly and the 924S-SE those who know how special they are, would pay $$$ for one with the least of added options that would end up weighing the car down.
Joe Joe :I was going to say the same thing...Magnus is going watercooled now, so values will go up on these since the vintage market seems to follow his lead...
Going to look at a '83 on Monday. I've loved these cars since I first saw one. Surprised to see parts are getting cheaper. Looking forward to the restoration. It's only money.
I agree this is the best 928 video I’ve seen yet.... I have always loved the 928 but didn’t get one earlier because either they’re underpowered or get 70s gas mileage for the long highway GT trips I want to use them for. I don’t regret not having one as much as I regret Porsche not offering a ‘fuel economy’ V6 option or something. I know that’s not the purist approach but I want to fix and use my cars and not collect. None of the engine swaps out there turn me on either. It kind of feels like one step away from perfection for me...I’m going to become one those 944 drivers with the slightly annoyed, punchable faces, I think.
just recently got a 1982 Porsche 928 - in good condition but the instrument panel has some problems. Love it, but I have a real hard time getting in and out of it. Love your video
I really dislike those S wheels especially compared to the 16" teledials - they do the 928 styling no favours at all IMO. However I did hear they were one of the strongest alloy car wheels ever built.
Great video I loved everything about it however I have a 1980 that I’m trying to restore I live in Minnesota and I need a gas tank none of the scrap yard have any do you have a gas tank that you would be interested in For sale
I have an1989 Aussie delivered 928 S4.... 105,000 k ....... always parked in garage, never driven in rain....... only problem is a slow power steering fluid leak. Not bad for 30 years?
My grandpa has a 5spd 85 s in a red wine colour with full leather interior and electric seats with less than 100k miles, how much do you think it can sell for? It was just repainted a couple of years ago and it is in mint condition
I inherited an 83 928s auto. I've been on rennlist forums and done google searches, but can you please point me in the right direction for a full restore project [interior, gas tank, electrical, body, paint] somewhere in the northeast, closer to NJ.
I love the wheels on the dark green car! They seem to suit the styling too. I don't think they were the original wheels. What are they originally from?
There is something about 928. Best would be S3 manual but S3 was 32valves with brembos and so on but 16V Sound is better i think ... also S4 and GTS is much modern car.
The best one is the one you fall in love with! There are numerous more practical considerations - the 928 forum on Rennlist is the best place to learn about them. The biggest factor, however, is to know your own abilities and limitations. While not as crazy as owning an Italian supercar of the same era - it is German, after all! - it's not a car most people can own "casually".
Awesome! Here's one to look at: www.revimports.com/inventory/details/48414763 -Where did you hear that Tony Lapine worked on the Pacer? He designed the late '60's Pontiac LeMans, which is where the rear wheel well design [and the rear in general...] came from, not the Chevelle.
Robert Wickham,I was a true Rambler freak, think I had nine of them.AMC cars were, and still are, very under-rated.All my Ramblers were six cylinder, some auto, some three on the tree but every single one of them were reliable and easy to maintain.I should probably be looking to buy another one now that they're old and not too desirable by most collectors
Hello there. I am in the 1978 Porsche 928 restoration project.Finding parts in my country is almost impossible. Can you help me if I do not supply spare parts please. best regards.
