I was at this game in 94 at old RFK Stadium in D.C. I remember Deion Sanders autographed my Game Program 49ers beat the breaks off Washington getting ready for the showdown against Dallas the next week 49ers beat them as well

Daryll Green, Rice wouldn't be able to run around him unfortunately. He's scored TDs against him several times though.

Darrel Green's the only player I've seen catch Jerry at football speed at least once. That fact alone makes him a first ballot HOF lol

@@thesentinelsfootballchanne3212truly BS Rice was BY FAR nowhere near the fastest on the field... He was probably the best route-runner, and best or near-best at YAC......and always knew where he had to get to (sticks-wise) But the idea that just being able to run down Rice is HOF contender..,sheer stupidity But nowhere near the fastest....

Still the team that bill walsh built. Had he stayed till 1994 he probably would have had at least 2 more super bowl titles. What an incredible coach and evaluator of talent he was. Nobody else comes close.

You could tell the 49ers were rounding into form, by the end of 1994 they were the best team, this was a total team effort, offense, defense and Special Teams all scored TD's.

I thought if a kickoff went out of bounds before being touched it was automatically placed at the receiving teams 40 yard line?

Gus Frerotte was a bum. A true 7th round ham and egger who never deserved one bit of the hype surrounding his performance. His self inflicted concussion celebration is the single play which exemplifies the last 29 years of redskin/safe spaces (or whatever they end up calling themselves) football.
@pattrell5257
@pattrell5257 3 года назад
In Gus' defense, McDonald QUICKLY got high enough to dunk a basketball(maybe with 2 hands). What did he have a 45" vertical?! Those hops were beyond a football player's leaping ability. Though it gets no play, that's one of the most athletic plays of all time(possibly top 20). If Tim was a HOFer, then you might see that play more.
@johnselwitz5362
@johnselwitz5362 2 года назад
I wouldn’t necessarily say he was a bum, there’s really not a lot of grandiose expectations for players drafted in the 7th round (I don’t know why Washington fans hyped him up the way that they did, perhaps they were just happy Heath Shuler wasn’t playing) so when you think about it, Frerotte actually kind of overachieved in that regard. He was not a guy who was gonna put up magnificent stats and be a consistent starting quarterback for any NFL team, but if the starter did get injured, Gus could come in and manage the game and get a result every now and then, like he did with Denver in 2000, Miami in 2005, and in his final season with the Vikings in 2008. He was a serviceable backup who could win a game or two if he needed to. He was kind of like Ryan Fitzpatrick before Ryan Fitzpatrick

That front line and linebackers were good for the Reskins. The Niners offense was too much for them however.

The players dying from cte and all the backlash changed the game forever. Myself, I can’t say I blame them for trying to make the game safer, but maybe it was just for them to save their butt from litigation.

@@s.tavares3257 It’s called football. Anyone who plays past little league level knows the risks involved. It’s a gladiator game not a poker tournament. The current NFL is a complete disgrace.

so glad I stopped watching football. I recall around this time Chuck Cecil had a clean hit on Ron Middleton and got fined for it. So even back then the NFL was getting a little carried away with fines and such.
