Walt, the 90's came with the CPI motors. Very cool looking top end for the time period. Rated at 200 horse I believe.

Grab the flares. Idiots are asking huge prices on ebay for them!

Too late most of them are busted besides as soon as you try to take the flares off the studds break! down here in the sweltering Southern heat that plastic just breaks way too easy.

Hey Walter, I would like to contact you regarding a comment you made about helping my 2003 Chevy S-10 CrewCab 4x4 ZR5 lowrider get off the ground and in the air for some reason the shops here in Alabama don't want to install the Rough Country 6inch suspension lift kit on my 2003 CHEVY S-10 CrewCab 4x4 ZR5 because of what Rough Country has told them. I thought that I had the right gmail to contact you that I saw awhile back but I didn't receive a response. I have even considered driving the six hours to Rough Country in Dyersburg, TN and request that they install there lift kit. Trying to figure out how to get in contact with you to possibly help me out as to who and where I can get this install done. Thank You Sir.

Mr. Darkhorse. Not to rain on your parade but I highly doubt you will find a reputable shop to install the lift, including Rough Country. Their disclaimer regarding fitment becomes a toxic warning to many installers. Even though forward thinking guys like Walt pioneered and documented the install the shops do not want to assume the legal liability if something goes wrong. Your best bet is that you might find a local tech who would be willing to take this task on as a side job away from their place of employment. From experience I would be wary of this unless the installer was VERY experienced. My reasoning is that a younger/newer tech may lack the tools and the area to do the install in a timely manner. Once you cut the front mounts off you are all-in until the job is done. Work like this NEVER goes as easy as planned, especially in your driveway without a lift. Many shops who do lifts frequenly end up taking the better part of two days to install a lift like this. That being said, if you are mechanically inclined and have a space to park this on jack stands for a few weeks you can do it yourself. You will have a huge sense of pride and accomplishment when you do.

@@philmcginnis2373 Thank You Sir for you are extremely correct with the comments that you made about Rough Country their disclaimer and other comments. I have had NO Luck in finding a shop that is willing to take on the job, and the one shop that did say that they would in a couple of months seems to be avoiding my emails and messages, that's why I have been trying to get in contact with Walter.

@@lucky13darkhorse53 Have you considered taking it on yourself? I did the 6 inch Superlift on my ZR2 Blazer. It actually wasn't that bad. All the lifts for IFS are bracket type lifts and are pretty similar. They vary a small bit so they can't claim they copied each other but let's face it. One S10 is pretty much the same as the next. It took me portions of 3 weekends to finish but I was doing extra things as well. I installed a torsion bar relocator kit so I had to modify/relocate my torsion bar crossmember. I also swapped out every single front end component. Ball joints, tie rods, bushings, idler arm etc. EVERYTHING was new. A big part of the time was spent cleaning./painting older parts like brake calipers and leaf springs etc. lol. Another thing that is time consuming is the removal of old parts. There is always that one bolt that takes two hours instead of two minutes. It may be a ball joint separation or a leaf spring bolt etc; something will give you a hard time. The Rough Country instructions should be pretty good and you can download the Superlift or BDS instructions as well for comparison purposes. I used a sawzall with a LONG blade to remove my frame brackets. I was able to "flex" the blade against the frame to get pretty even cuts and it went pretty quickly. Of course I did a little touch up with a file and Dremel and had to paint the newly exposed metal lol. I bought a brand new Dewalt blade for this and it went through the brackets much faster than I anticipated. Get a LARGE set of jackstands for the rear to support the frame behind the leaf springs. The rear involves swapping the axle to below the leaves so it gets pretty high pretty quickly. Have confidence and good luck. If I can offer suggestions feel free to shout!
