Yeah, only footage I could find elsewhere is of the damn crash. From the collection of some old friends of mine, here's the full race. The wreck was actually pretty early on in the event.
Ferrari vs. Olds? Not so much. The spring race at Road Atlanta was a sprint. Team Dyson has Ford power in their R&S chassis, and uses it.
I see Olds working it in GTS-1 (the class formerly known as GTO), though. Hoerr and Brassfield go gangbusters after Millen's Nissan.
Velez gets the 333 out front for a bit, but American torque and downforce eventually gets it back.
Jim Pace slips the Spice/Olds to the front for a minute, but all that fuel economy doesn't matter when the race is only 3hrs.
Rob has gearbox problems, and does team owner stuff after his own car retires.
In the end, Irv & Darrin get a free pass after a WSC punts Millen off the road. And before the chicane replaced "The Dip" at Road Atlanta, the space between stations Nine and Ten were very bad places to go off the road. Full throttle, top gear. No damn wonder the race was stopped. Move a barrier, stop the world.
