1995 Mercedes s500 w140 diagnostic code reader check engine light obd1 

I have a December 94 S500L here in the UK, not used for about 9 years. Such a beautiful car, but my word, what a pain in the backside these cars can be. I will be watching your videos for sure !

I have the same code reader but with the banana plugs for the 16 pin connector instead of the small pins for the 38 pin connector like yours. Works perfect on my '91 500SL. You can build your own which is not hard but I enjoy having the nicely built one for $30, and it's just easily available versus taking your time to make your own. When I first read codes I had a ton (probably from years ago when the battery got low and was replaced by previous owner), but after clearing codes on every pin and rechecking after 2 weeks, I had none. So that was nice lol

You probably know this already but I found out that the circle part on the cover twists off like a radiator cap. So you don't need to remove the large cover. Thanks for all of the videos.

Pete I suggest to buy a STAR kit (laptop and multiplexor). I got mine and I'm happy. Before I've been trying to use "Carsoft V12" but I couldn't make it work so now I'm happy with my STAR kit. Yeah, unfortunately we have to deal with 38-pin port...

Very helpful! Ordered the code reader, and I got lots of good info … One question: Any ideas on a source for knock sensors and related wiring for an S420? Having a very hard time sourcing them for a 1995 W140 model.

Im have 1993 600sel.when you push 5 seconds on instrument Secret Cluster Pin then turn the pin to right, it will SE and SA mode means and has lot of fuel level and pressure gage, and the SE and SA mode.Also it has one more mode is 25 to 0 to -25. When you push the pin 5 seconds than turn to left is on that mode, I'm don't know it too! Any idea!

Hey bro my mercedes w140 s500 1999 has a problem the radio wont light up and the ac buttons wont work neither the radio buttons i can only turn on the defrosters thats it cant change anything either need help please

Did you remove your ASR/Egas module on purpose to avoid the ASR limp mode issue?

What kind of idle issues u getting? Did u check cam seals?

Does anyone know why pin 14 (lambda on-off ratio) would have a constant light? or reason why any pin would have a constant light?

I got that exact same reader for mine. Even though mine is a 96 it's a non USA model so no obd2

Yeah, isn't this fun? I've had my check engine light on for a little less than a year. Got the codes for the neutral safety switch. Cleared them and the light was off for about a day until it came back with the same code. I replaced the switch with a genuine Mercedes one, and lone behold... It made absolutely no difference whatsoever and the light is still on with the same code. I hope you have better luck than me.
