27 years ago today. I was there, it was HOT! 95 plus humidity, sun, and TONS of yellow jacket wasps. We ALMOST left until the end of the drive where Eddie Davis scored Michigan's first TD. We stayed to the epic finish and I will NEVER forget it!
Arguably the best team ever at UVa or to ever come from the state of Virginia. 3 of the 4 non-conf games were losses at Michigan and at Texas, on the last play of the game each, and a home loss to Virginia Tech in the final minutes that was the largest comeback the Hokies ever had at the time. Also was the team to give Florida State it's first league loss and got a Peach Bowl win over Georgia. But damn those losses still hurt. Not like the 90 loss to Georgia Tech but damn close.
Turns out I actually hadn't even converted this game yet from my vhs, and sad to say the tape is in rather bad shape. First few minutes are unwatchable, then it mostly clears up, but still has static for some reason in the audio. I went ahead and converted to digital file anyway and still plan to do the edit at some point, but thought i'd give fair warning about the quality. Might even redo some day when a better copy turns up.
