Flat-track it on four wheels! Finally found something in my pile from the Milwaukee Mile. Traditionally, the race was the week after Indianapolis for the big cars. That tradition lasted into the CART era, and if memory serves, even a couple of years after the Indycars were kicked out of Indianapolis. FA was probably on the undercard for CART on this particular weekend.
FA might be Toyotas instead of Cosworths, but it's still FA. TV folks continue to brag about where alumni go. Jacques won Indy! I have to ask. though..does anyone else miss when Toyota meant the Celica, the MR2, and the Supra instead of the Camry and Prius? I hope so. Otherwise, I'm just a sad old man having a "GET OFF MY LAWN!" moment.
And as a Honda & Nissan fan, I'd hate to have my first one of those be about a stinking Toyota. 3:)

ESPN Update: Braves crush the Reds 10-0. Not that stick-and-ball was actually *important*..but it was fun!
David Empringham (why didn't Players ever put him in the big cars?) holds off Carpentier (who got a ride in CART, the Earl, and even NASCAR), but not by much. RItchie drags that lil' garage-built rat up to fifth from a last place start. No damn wonder he eventually made 'The Show'. Everybody says they just ran out of laps. As everyone usually says when they're top 5 on an oval. :D
Ads this time around: Whatever happened to Armor All for the house? ESPN Promo at the dawn of the "X-Games" (they were actually calling it 'extreme' back then). And I can't help but wonder if Zymol was already $100 bucks a bottle, even back then. ;)
EDIT: I should also admit, I love the Dixie Speedway ad. It's still there, and it's still dirt.
